Hi I'm Katie Shepherd

I am a wife and a mother, a piano teacher and an artist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in England and immigrated to Canada with my family when I was a child. I was raised in a loving family that had the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am married and have three wonderful children, two daughters and a son. I have been a stay at home mom and enjoyed raising my kids, being involved in their activities, especially their school sports, and music. I am a piano teacher part time from my home, and I have a great love for music. I have a great interenst in the arts. I studied art in University and continue to paint and draw as well as scrapbook. I love the outdoors and gardening as well.

Why I am a Mormon

Having been born into a family that had the gospel, I was raised as a Mormon. However in my youth I determined that I would need to find out for myself if this was what I wanted and if it was what I believed for myself. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed as Moroni challenged, asking if it was true. The answer I received was a testimony to me. I had the distinct impression that I had always known it was true. This was a confirmation to me, and I have never doubted since that day. I know that this is the true gospel of Jesus Christ restored through a prophet of God, even Joseph Smith. I know that the priesthood of God was restored and that revelation is ongoing. I know that we have a living prophet on the earth that guides us in these the latter days. I know that Jesus Christ is the son of God, He lives and is my Redeemer.

How I live my faith

I am very involved in the church, and always have been. I work with the youth and have done so for many years. I have been a teacher, and have coordinated many activities, including a girls camp for more than 100 young women for three consecutive years. I enjoy using my musical talents weekly as I play the organ for Sunday services and with the children in their meetings. I am involved with organizing social events for the members of our local unit and enjoy using my artistic abilities to enhance these functions. I have also used these same skills to benefit my community by working in the schools that my children have attended, including playing for school choirs and organizing and participating in school councils.
