Hi I'm Kelli

I'm a college student figuring out my future. I love diversity, culture and people. And I love to laugh. I am a Mormon.

About Me

Hi. I'm Kelli. A lot of me is explained by the fact that I grew up smack-dab in the middle of four brothers and no sisters...my dad says it depends on the day when I'm considered the rose among thorns or the thorn among roses...but luckily their disposition to be easy-going and active has rubbed off on me. I like being a student, road biking, waterskiing, reading, eating ice cream and brownies, dancing, hanging out with special needs kids, and shooting the breeze with whoever. I'd consider Latin America my home away from home, and the people who live there some of my dearest friends.

Why I am a Mormon

Yes, I'm from Utah, and I'm a Mormon. So were my parents and my grandparents and a few greats before them. But, their legacy and faith are not the primary reasons of why I am a Mormon. Sure, they have had a profound impact on my values, perspectives and aspirations through their teachings and example; however, if anything else their expectations pushed me to develop a personal relationship with God and figure out what He wanted for and from me. I was baptized when I was eight years old, having a simple sense that it was the right thing to do to follow Jesus Christ. Since then, there have been several simple and subtle moments in my life when I have felt in my heart an encouragement and motivation to act upon what was being taught to me. Through these impressions that have guided my life, I have seen that the teachings of Jesus Christ and His continuing help are powerful enough to change my character, my desires, my abilities and my future. There is an undeniable, strengthening and miraculous guidance that I can see enter my life when I sincerely try to live the fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through the promises, or covenants, I have made with God, He has shaped me (and others in my life) to become something I could have never reached if left to myself. This has been a constant personal witness that Christ is my Savior, that I can come to know Him, and that I am never happier than when I am trying to become like Him.

How I live my faith

Sometimes it's hard, but, God has asked me to put Him first in everything that I do. So, everyday I try to do little things that show I really do trust in Him. I rearrange my priorities to put people first. I make time to talk with Him and for Him to talk with me in my prayers and study of the Bible and The Book of Mormon. I take the promises I have made with Him seriously and seek to always remember His love for me and my love for Him. I strive everyday to be better than the last. I seek understanding in tough spots, forgiveness in the mistakes, and strength in the weakness. One of the biggest blessings of having the full doctrine of Christ in the restored Gospel, is that I can learn God and Christ's true character and can be a little more like them. A little more patient, a little more humble, a little more loving, and a lot more faithful.
