Hi I'm Peter Cook

I'm a student. I'm a runner. I'm a lover of chocolate milk and superhero movies. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student, a runner, a lover of anything outside, and a superhero movie fan. Spending time with my family or friends is what makes life meaningful for me. When I need to relax for a bit I'll often go hammock at a park or go for a drive late at night in order to give myself time to ponder on everything going on. Ever since I was little I have wanted to become a Doctor. My grandpa was a Doctor that passed away before I was born but my Dad always told me stories about him which helped inspire my career choice. I love what I study! Serving others is what has brought me the most joy in life and I have worked as a student mentor, a student ambassador, and as a caregiver in an assisted living facility. Those opportunities to reach out and make an impact in the lives of those around me are huge blessings which have motivated me to become a better person.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up I went to church with my parents and brothers because that is just what we did in our household. My parents always tried to nurture us in a way that allowed us to make decisions for ourselves. When I was little I thought that the meaning of life was Love, which is true but I have come to realize it is much more than that. The love depicted in movies doesn't even begin to compare to the love of Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because I know that Jesus Christ gave His life for me. I know that He loves me. I don't just hope that He's real, I know it. The spirit has told me in my heart and in my mind that Christ lives and that He has established a church on the Earth today just like He did when He walked on the Earth with the apostles. The Savior, Jesus Christ, has always worked through disciples in order to spread the good news of the gospel to every person on this planet. I am a Mormon because being a member of Christs' church allows me to improve myself every day and to do the most good in the lives of those around me. I am a Mormon because it makes me happy. And I am a Mormon because through the gospel of Jesus Christ I can be with my family forever.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading the scriptures daily, serving those around me, and by maintaining my relationship with God, or Heavenly Father, through prayer and fasting. Each week I have the opportunity to serve in a church assignment where I get to reach out to the young single adult males at my university. We have discussions on how to strengthen our faith and we organize events in order to promote unity. It is such a privilege to see the growth in myself and those around me as I participate in church service. For two years I left my friends and family to serve as a missionary, as many young members of the church do. I went to Texas and served Spanish speaking. As I taught the gospel to Hispanic families and served in their communities I saw the light of Christ, also known as the love of Christ, become much more tangible around me. It brought a peace and joy to their homes that I had never seen before. Living my faith is not just about what I do each day to show love to the Lord and His children but it is about the attitude of faith, hope, and charity I try to maintain as I make my way through life.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Peter Cook
The Church does not endorse political parties but we are encouraged to be involved in our national and local political affairs. As we stand up for the beliefs that unify us we will develop stronger communities. Show more Show less
