Hi I'm Darlene

I'm a wife, a mother, a business owner, a horse fanatic, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother and just recently a grandmother! I have four children, two of which are married and my oldest just had an adorable baby girl. It's pretty neat to see our family grow. Each addition makes life a little more sweet. I truly look forward to the times when we are all together. Family is what life is all about. I own a tax and accounting business that I operate out of my home. My favorite part of my business is meeting with people and catching up on their lives since I've seen them last, and being one that they can trust. I love horses and I'm passionate about barrel racing. For me, getting on a horse is like what I envision Heaven to be. All the cares of the day melt away and it's just me and my horse outside enjoying God's creations. I view my horses as one of God's tender mercies in my life. There was a time in my marriage when my husband and I were considering divorce. I spent a long period of wrestling with the Lord before I became teachable. At that point, I continued to pray to know what to do. My answer was to get back into barrel racing. I didn't know how that had anything to do with my marriage, but since nothing else had seemed to work, I obeyed the prompting. It turns out that that was the very thing that was the catalyst in bringing my husband and I back together and I will be forever grateful. God truly loves us and is aware of the details of our lives.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when I was eight years old. I can't recall if I knew at the time that the church was true. But I do remember the feeling I had when I was baptized. I was so happy! The next day, I was confirmed a member of the church and was given the Gift of the Holy Ghost by men holding the Melchezedek Priesthood. When they spoke the words "receive the Holy Ghost", I felt a warm feeling start at my head where their hands were placed and it continued through my whole body. I cried for an hour, not knowing why. Since then I have had numerous times where I have felt the Holy Ghost in my life bear witness of the truth, warn me of dangers and bring light and understanding to my mind. As I have attended the temple, I have had many spiritual experiences that have strenghtened my testimony of the importance of family and the reality of eternal families and life beyond the grave. I have read the Book of Mormon many times and I have had the Holy Ghost bear witness to me that it is true. That same spirit has born witness to me that Joseph Smith was a true prophet. He truly saw God the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ in answer to a sincere prayer. They spoke to Joseph by name, and I know that They know me personally as well. I'm so thankful to know that I can pray and be heard. And while the answers may not come in the way that I want, or in my time frame, I have learned that my perspective is much smaller than God's. God is all-knowing and loving, and it is my testimony that as I have put my trust in Him, and obeyed His commandments, and followed the promptings of the Holy Ghost, God blesses my life in ways I could never imagine.

How I live my faith

On Sundays I teach the 16 and 17 year olds in our church. While this can be a challenging age to teach, they are actually inspiring to me. They are so strong and live their standards in a world where standards are increasingly ridiculed and challenged. I enjoy my association with them. I am a 'visiting teacher' where I am assigned three ladies in our church to visit each month. I enjoy visiting with them and helping them where I am able. It's great how an assignment turns into a true friendship. I truly love and care for these ladies. In my community, I coordinate the scouts in my area to set up and take down American flags on holidays for residents in our community. Scouting is an awesome program! I am interested in government because I believe that God gave us our freedom and we need to protect that. Because of that, I have served as a delegate in my community and I'm involved in my political party and try to help promote candidates who believe in God and have a desire to preserve our personal and religious freedoms. In my profession, I serve on the board of the Utah Chapter of the National Association of Tax Professionals.
