Hi I'm Marshall

I joined the US Air Force and served over 30 years as a meteorologist and space scientist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My career in the US Air Force as an officer was exciting, challenging, and very rewarding. I still choke up every time the US flag passes by. As a meteorologist, I provided critical weather information to air crews to help them safely travel to their destinations. As a space scientist, I was privileged to work with astronauts and the space shuttle program. I watched the behavior of the sun and forecast when solar flares would affect space operations, such as astronauts walking outside the space shuttle in outer space. I'm now retired from the US Air Force and the work force and enjoying serving my family, friends, and community. I love doing volunteer service and helping others. I have been very blessed in my life endeavors, occupation, and family.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I have learned the gospel of Jesus Christ and then incorporated the gospel in my personal life on a daily basis. Thus, I have tested the principles of His (Jesus Christ) gospel and know they are good and true. Each principle of the gospel (e.g., faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, honesty, keeping the commandments of God, etc.) brings joy beyond description. I'm a Mormon because I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true and is led by the Savior, Jesus Christ. The Church contains the fullness of the gospel that allows me to live my life in accordance with God's will, not my will. I have a burning testimony of the divinity of God the Father, His Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. I know they are individual beings who love us and want us to be happy. God's Plan of Salvation or Happiness is contained in the gospel. His plan involves us being righteous children of God in the Pre-earth existence, coming to earth to gain a mortal body, be tried and tested to see if we will keep God's commandments, and returning to our God, Heavenly Father after this earth life. God's greatest gift to man is eternal life, living with Him again eternally. I know this is true through the witness of the Holy Ghost. As a Mormon, we are baptised, confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and given the Gift of the Holy Ghost. What a wonderful gift to have the Holy Ghost be with us to be a friend, comforter, and testifier of all truths, especially that Jesus is the Chirst, our Savior and Redeemer and that I'm a child of God. I also know that we have a living Prophet on the earth, that the Book of Mormon and Bible are true scriptures, that the Priesthood of God has been restored on earth for man to serve others, and that we all can receive personal revelation for ourselves. These are some of the reasons why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I grew up in a Mormon family and have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for over 5 decades. My faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and his Atonement have helped me tremendously during my challenges and trials in my life. For instance, while serving in the military in the country of Vietnam during the Vietnam War, my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ helped me endure the many hardships of war, and I was comforted by the Holy Ghost many times during battles. I knew the Lord would bless me and help me through my trials. As I raised my family in the gospel of Jesus Christ and strived to keep the Commandments of God, I feel I received the help and guidance to raise a righteous, happy family. Now I'm a grandfather and enjoy being part of my grandchildren's lives. Helping them make wise, good choices blesses my life and theirs. Family is my main focus in life, and I want to be with them forever. The gospel of Jesus Christ teaches us we can be a Forever Family, and I love my family...forever. This is one of the most beautiful, true principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I still strive to serve faithfully in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My calling in the church right now is a leader of the older men in the Priesthood. It's a joy to serve in any capacity: father, husband, grandfather, Church member, community member, member of the US, and family member. I just love serving. It brings me great blessings and helps others. I've lived in many locations because of frequent military moves. I find it possible to serve in the community no matter where we live. This is also a great blessing to help neighbors and the community. Living the gospel of Jesus Christ teaches us to serve and love one another. Living by the Golden Rule and serving others is wonderful.
