Hi I'm Maegan Taylor

I grew up a Military Brat. I'm a self proclaimed nerd. I'm a student and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've lived all over, from the castles of Europe to the swamps of the deep south and everywhere in between. I recently returned home from a mission to Mesa, Arizona and I loved it more than words can express. Now, I attend Brigham Young University studying English and History Teaching and I hope to go on to get my masters in Deaf Education. I am passionate about ASL and the deaf community, my dream job would be working at a school for the Deaf teaching History or English after I graduate. I love photography because I can capture a moment of happiness or a piece of beauty. It helps me show people how wonderfully beautiful this world is and how much we must be loved to be given this world. I love music, I love playing music and I love just sitting and listening to good uplifting music. I have a passion for traveling the world and learning about the different cultures because of the way I was raised.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it fills me with joy. I was raised in the church but unfortunately I have not always understood how important it was in my life. I felt good when I went to church and I knew that my Heavenly Father loved me but I didn't feel much else. I moved to Louisiana in high school and was thrown into the Bible belt, I went from a world that accepted me into a world that thought I had horns. There were times when it was tough, when I felt alone because people would make fun of what I believed. I was no longer allowed to be a fence-sitter. I was either going to be a Mormon and stand for my beliefs despite people making fun of me or I was going to leave it behind. I regret that I had to think about the decision, I prayed every night for days that if this church was true and worth it He would make it known to me and He did. There aren't words for the feelings that I had, I knew that I couldn't deny what I know knew to be true. I choose that I wanted to stand for something. Because of that decision, I was blessed beyond belief. I was able to have many missionary opportunities that strengthened my testimony immensely. Over the years I had gone from being a fence-sitter to knowing without a doubt that this church is true and that I am never alone. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me. I know that his son Jesus Christ loves me enough that he willingly came down from his heavenly home to pay for my sins so that I could return home to him. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and he translated the Book of Mormon through the power of God. I know that we have a prophet on this world today who receives revelation from God for the world. I know that through temple blessings I can be with my family forever. I know that if I try my hardest, Christ will make up the rest for me. I am a Mormon because it gives me hope. It gives me light in this world of darkness. It gives me reason to rejoice and be happy.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through my smile. The gospel brings so much happiness into my life and I hope people can see that through my countenance. I live my faith through my example as I try to be the best I can be. I try to serve others and help them see the beauty that is this world. Thanks to the revelation given to our Prophet in the October 2012 General Conference I was able to serve in the Arizona Mesa mission and I discovered that the more I focus on others and forget myself the happier I am.
