Hi I'm Emily Parker

I am a mormon.

About Me

I am 36 years old. I have 5 children and 3 step-children. I have been married once before. I have lived in lots of different places. People have asked if I ever get homesick. I tell them, Home is where my family is. I find beautiful places where ever I live. I was in the US Navy for 7 years. During that time I had many opportunities to be an example to others and even share my beliefs. I was a hospital corpsman. I enjoyed my work because I like helping and serving others. I am thankful for the missionaries who wrote me during my basic training. It was difficult, yet I had a desire to not give up. I am so grateful for my children who love me. I desire to be an influence for good in their lives. I enjoy reading good books, writing letters the old fashioned way, riding my bike with my family, baking cookies for others and serving others. When I write letters, I call it giving service through the mail. I have 4 sisters who I love and miss very much. We are close in spirit even though we live far apart. I have attended some college and received my associates degree.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I love my Savior. I was baptized when I was 9 years old. My father had been inactive for a while. Every time we saw him wear a white shirt my sister would get excited and shout " Daddy put on a white shirt, you're going to get baptized." I am blessed to be a member of this church. I can honestly say, I don't know how my life would have turned out without the influence of the gospel. I am a mormon because I am not perfect. I believe that my heavenly father and Jesus Christ know of the efforts I make each day. I am a mormon because I love to serve in any way I can. I know the Lord is aware of my desire to serve and has placed me in a family where I can serve them each day. No matter how insignificant the task, I know it doesn't go unnoticed. I am a mormon because I love myself enought to know and understand who I am. For I am a child of God, a daughter of a king, and a person of great worth. I believe in the power of prayer. I know the Lord hears and answers my prayers. Maybe not always in the way or time I expect, but they do get answered. I know heavenly father knows me personally. All my faults and loves me just the same. I know Jesus Christ is my savior and redeemer. And that he suffered for me and felt all my pains and sorrows. I know the Atonement is for all of us. A chance to repent and become whole in his sight. I know that families are eternal and relationships can last forever. I know that temples are important to our own salvation. Temples are beautiful buildings where families can be sealed. You can grow close to heavenly father and your family when you attend often. I know the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It was written for our day. We can come to know Christ by reading from its pages. We can also find answers from within.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by supporting my husband in his callings. He is scoutmaster and takes the scouts camping at least once a month. I live my faith by building my own testimony. Through daily scripture study and prayer. Also through family home evenings and family scripture study. Encouraging my family to do the same.
