Hi I'm Angela

I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in California, but grew up in Arizona. As an adult, I have lived in Provo, Honolulu, San Diego, Zambia, and now Washington, DC. I studied Fashion Merchandising at BYU, but then later went back to school at Arizona State University to get an Elementary Education teaching certificate and later a Master's of Education in English as a Second Language. I've taught 2nd grade, worked in a science laboratory, and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in a village in Africa. I love challenging myself and learning new things. I love traveling and learning new cultures. I love doing anything outside--camping, boating, running, biking, surfing, hiking. I also love cooking and reading. I didn't get married until I was 42, so I was fortunate to have many single years to bond with my family including twelve adorable nieces and nephews. I have the greatest parents in the whole world and owe so much to them. I married my best friend two years ago and gained two beautiful step-daughters. I am enjoying this new chapter of my life. I am very blessed!

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon, because it makes me happy. It's really that simple. I KNOW that God loves me. I KNOW that He has a plan for me. This knowledge brings me confidence and direction in my life. It's not always easy to live the commandments, but The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is my support network. I am surrounded by others who believe the same as I do and want to encourage me to be better. We have a prophet who gives us counsel and direction. I can also receive my answers to my own personal prayers. I am so grateful for this knowledge and cannot imagine my life without it.

How I live my faith

I attend church for 3 hours every Sunday. I work with the children ages 2-12. They teach me so much. Every Sunday we teach them short lessons and sing lots of songs. I find myself throughout the week still singing, "Choose the right way, and be happy" or "I want to be the best I can and live with God again". I smile thinking of our children singing the same songs when they are at school. I read the Book of Mormon or our church magazine, the Ensign, every day on the train ride to work. It helps me focus on the Savior and helps me treat others better during the day. I pray every morning and night and thank my Heavenly Father for all the blessings I have in my life. I also ask Him for anything I may be in special need of. I attend the temple twice a month. It is the most peaceful place on earth. The lessons we learn at the temple help me to put my life in perspective. I feel so close to my Savior and know He loves me. I surround myself with good friends and calm surroundings. The world is so chaotic and confusing sometimes, it's nice to separate myself from the noise. I don't swear or drink alcohol. It's easy for me, because I want to live my life more like Jesus Christ. I hope that my friends know I am Christian by the way I live my life and by the way I treat other people.
