Hi I'm Rebecca Ard

I love to travel and I love to learn.

About Me

I'm an empty nester. I've raised 4 great kids. And now I can do even more of what I have done all my life, travel and learn. I love traveling to fun places like the Caribbean. And I've been to places just to learn, like a month in Germany. I've been all over the United States as well. But the more I see, the more I realize there is to see. And when I can't travel, I learn at home through reading, television, the internet, people and friends. I've learned about photography, and held a computer job for awhile. I've learned about psychology, child rearing, decorating, religion, music, and so forth. There are no boundaries for me as long as I feel it is good to know I seek to know. World events can seem overwhelming, but they certainly expand our knowledge and awareness. I want to see things, and learn of things, but not with a spin. I try to see things as they really are. The truth is always worth the effort.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a Methodist. I joined a re-born Christain group as a teen. I attended several churches trying to find "the right fit". Then I gave up for awhile and through a member of the LDS church, it found me. I've been a member for over 36 years now. It is the best decision I have ever made. I feel truth within the doctrine of this church whereas my other studies have always led to feelings of unbelief rather than belief in other church doctrines. Within my faith, I am free to think and ask questions, allowed or in personal prayer. I have grown so much in wisdom and as a person. One church leader is being quoted as "the best and most sure indicator that we are growing spiritually and coming unto Christ is the way we treat other people." The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has brought into my life answers, peace, growth and out of these positive roads comes the blessing of loving others. There have been many true miracles in my life, far too many to ever doubt. But it still is not miracles that keep me in the service of my God and fellow man, its the assurance, the absolute feeling of complete resolve that this church is truly founded and directed by Jesus Christ. There is no further wrestling of my soul to seek elsewhere. I know truth when I hear it, because I feel it.

How I live my faith

I teach the adult Sunday School class, called Gospel Doctrine. It seems from the day I joined the church I was asked to teach. I've taught the children, the teenagers, in the women's meetings and now all the adults in the Sunday School class. I love teaching. You always learn the most.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Rebecca Ard
We learn more about God. We promise more to God. And we can think more about God than you can at any other place on the planet. It is a place where we are willing to learn to become more Christian, like Christ. And in being at this place of peace and promises is a wonderful thing. The official church answer talked about sacrifices but I thought that should be clarified that what is sacrificed to God is our sins. We sacrifice things that make us ungodly. We voluntarily purge out of ourselves characteristics that keep you from being your better self. Its all good. Show more Show less
