Hi I'm Dawn

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of two wonderful children who keep me pretty busy. I have a religious studies degree. I love to ski and ride horses and to spend time with my precious family.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up Catholic- my whole family is still Catholic. I did not take the decision to join the church lightly; it was a process for me, several years, until I felt comfortable that I could truly articulate to my family why I was joining the church. I suppose you could say that my conversion began back in middle school where I made some wonderful friends who just happened to be Mormon. I remember people in high school referring to my friends as Mormon and thinking to myself, "I don't know what that means." To me, my friends were just that, my friends. They were loving and supportive and stood up for what they believed in and didn't feel the need to fit in with the popular crowd. I began dating my now husband when we were 16 and he was a member. His family was always so kind and thoughtful and they were always very accepting of me; I felt like I was another one of their children. It wasn't until my husband was preparing to leave on his mission that he asked me to take the discussions, I took one before he left and took the remaining over the course of a 6-8 months after he had left. I was very cautious to make sure that the decision to join the church was for me and me alone. It was during a Friday night discussion when one of the missionaries tole me that he knew I believed because I was always giving up my Friday nights to take the discussions. That hit me hard- it was true and I felt like I had been outed and I haven't turned back since. I love the church, I know that it is true. I have a testimony of Joseph Smith and the role he played in restoring the Lord's church here on earth. I know that Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to be happy, that we have a Prophet here on the earth today who is in direct communication with our Heavenly Father. I know that the Temple is truly the house of the Lord and that through the covenants that we make there, we can return to live with Him and we will find true and everlasting happiness.

How I live my faith

I am currently a teacher for the young women and I love the challenge it brings me. I love serving as a teacher; it helps me to focus, to push myself to learn more and dive deeper into the gospel. I love being around the youth, they are so strong and they are our future. To be apart of their lives for a few hours a week is amazing.
