Hi I'm Merilee

I grew up in California. I'm a Mormon and I love teaching children, singing and participating in community theatre.

About Me

I grew up near San Francisco in a family that enjoyed hiking and exploring the Sierra Nevada mountains. Our family grew close on our many outings in the mountains and lakes of California. We also spent a lot of time together studying the Bible and Book or Mormon in the evenings and enjoying games, songs and fun activities. We called this our Family Home Evening. All Mormons have a Family Home Evening once a week, usually on Monday night. When we started to pray together each day as a family, and get together to have fun and study the gospel of Jesus Christ, our home life was more peaceful, happy and enjoyable. Arguments subsided and cooperation became the mode of operation. We felt love and loyalty for each other. That is the miracle of making Christ a part of your life. It changes everything for the better.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because at the age of 15, I began to read the Book of Mormon. Each night as I would read additional chapters and think about the things I had read, I could feel a tangible warmth and light emanating from my soul. My mind and heart began to expand with awe and conviction that what I was reading was truly from God. Though I was young, I received a strong assurance that God loved me, and that Jesus Christ was my personal Savior. Since that time, I have never doubted my faith or the reality of a Savior that loves us and is intimately involved in our lives.

How I live my faith

Since I loved being a part of my family, I decided to perpetuate that happiness by having a family of my own. My courageous husband and I have eleven children, and we really enjoy all the wild and wonderful times, especially now that we have grandchildren, too! Since I love music, each of our children has learned to play an instrument and sing beautifully. While we are certainly not perfect, I like to think that our family is an inspiration to others, because I have worked hard to lead them to Christ and to teach them to share their talents and faith with their friends, teachers, associates and fellow church members. You might say that we are a small city on a hill that is trying to shine the light of Christ as brightly as we can. We hope God is pleased with us, because we feel so grateful that he has blessed us with life, love, happiness, and the opportunity to be together in this life and the next. Love like ours should last forever!
