Hi I'm Lee Starling

I grew up in Valdosta GA. I'm a construction manager, I'm married and have 3 children and 6 grandkids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Valdosta Georgia. I spent most of my career as a construction manager working on projects in Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky and South Carolina. I married my 8th grade sweetheart and we have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. I love to fish, play golf, cook and travel. I have learned over the years that the journey is the destination. Nothing gives me more joy than to have all my children and grandchildren at the house and spend my time in the kitchen cooking their favorite dishes.

Why I am a Mormon

I had an experience when I was in a Bar in Georgia playing pool. I was pretty good at shooting pool and spent a lot of my time in bars and pool halls. One night while I was playing pool there was an older gentleman watching. After an hour or so he came to me and made a statement that change my life. He said "Son; show me a man that can play pool as good as you and I will show you a man that has wasted half his life". His statement made me reflect on my life and I realized that he was right. I had spent most of my life in pool halls and bars and had truly waste a lot of my life. I decide to change. I found the love of my life got married and took a position in Texas. My wife was a member of the Mormon Church and attend regularly. I decided to investigate the Church and after a period of time I gained a testimony of the Book of Mormon and the restoration of the gospel though the Prophet Joseph Smith. I have seen the Lord's hand in my life as he has guided me though this life and has blessed me more than I can imagine.

How I live my faith

I joined the Church in Temple Texas, which has truly blessed my life. I was given a wonderful gift that I always knew that there was a God in Heaven and He had a son, Jesus Christ which atoned for our sins. There is a saying in the Church "If you want to find yourself, lose yourself in the service of others". I try to be of service to my friends, family and neighbors. It gives me great joy when someone calls and ask for my assistance and I am able to help them. In the Church we are ask to serve in positions to help our local congregation. I have always tried to fulfill my responsibilities to the best of my abilities. I tried to give back to the communities where we have lived. I have adopted Schools, served on the Board of Directors of a Home Shelter, provided assistance to a local food bank by building offices, bus shelters and providing maintenance assistance.
