Hi I'm Riley

I'm a high school student. I love service. I enjoy writing. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm a high school student living who loves writing, the outdoors, exploring new places, and learning from others. I also enjoy running, singing, acting, and hanging out with friends. I've had the opportunity to travel to several places around the world and these experiences have deepened my faith in God and have helped me grown in my appreciation for His creation. My favorite time of year is Spring, but my favorite holiday is probably Christmas. My favorite subjects in school are English, Government, and Seminary.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church. My family has been active all of our lives. Nevertheless, this is not the reason I am currently a member of the Church and will soon be serving a mission for the Church. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because it is God's kingdom restored to the earth and the Holy Ghost has borne witness of that truth and many others pertaining to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His restored Church time and time again. I know Jesus Christ lives and leads His Church. He loves each person and each is worth more than they understand. I know The Book of Mormon is true. It testifies of Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the Savior of the world. President Thomas S. Monson leads Christ's Church today. He is a prophet of God just like Moses, Abraham, Noah, Peter, and Paul of old. I know through the power of the Holy Ghost these things are true. I know the Holy Ghost can speak to our minds and our hearts such that we may know these things. I know my convictions will only deepen as I continue serving the Lord. That is why I am a member of this church. I know these things to be true and they motivate me to follow in the footsteps of the Lord Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I get to go to the homes of two families with my Dad each month and teach them about gospel doctrines and principles. I also serve others in small and simple ways. I try hard to be positive and by so doing cheer others up. I love to talk about the Church and the Gospel of Jesus Christ with my peers who are and aren't members. I also love to bear my testimony and follow the standards the Lord has set out for us to follow. I also enjoy writing in my journal and daily scripture study as they greatly enhance my testimony and my commitment to the Lord. I live my faith by doing my best to be like Jesus Christ because He is the center of my faith and my life. I also get to do things like fulfill assignments given to me by my priesthood leaders and acting on the promptings given me by the Holy Ghost. I seek revelation from God and do my best to act on it.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Ask God. Study it out, then ask God.Then study again. Then ask again. Listen carefully for the Holy Ghost as you participate in these activities. Live the commandments so the Holy Ghost can testify of truth to you. When you ask God, make sure you really intend to act on what He will give you. He loves you, He is your Father, and He will answer your questions if you exercise the faith to get the answers. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance..." (Galatians 5:22-23). Know that these feelings come from God and they are a powerful way He teaches us concerning what is true. If you have felt these feelings while you have read the scriptures and heard of eternal truth from the missionaries or anyone, you have already felt the Holy Ghost testify of truth to you. You can know! You can know! I know The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the restored Church of Jesus Christ and you can too. Show more Show less
