Hi I'm Naomi Brown

I grew up in Calgary Alberta but spent my summers living with my grandparents in Tokyo Japan, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the second oldest of 4 children and am the only girl. I grew up loving sports and always competing with my brothers. The closest person I have to a sister is my cousin Lauren who has been my best friend since we were born. We played basketball together and eventually moved away to university together. I went to a small high school where I got to wear uniforms and graduate with a class of 50 students. My favourite hobbies are basketball, tennis, sketching pictures, and reading books to my youngest brother. I'm currently serving a mission for my church is the Toronto Canada Mission which has been the greatest experience of my life!

Why I am a Mormon

My mother is the strongest and most determined woman I've ever known. Despite the culture she grew up in, she found the truth the gospel of Jesus Christ has and left everything behind to commit herself to following our Savior, Jesus Christ. Through my mom's example I knew that there was something extraordinary out there that was beyond my understanding. I did what I was taught and relied upon the testimonies of others until I discovered my own. When I was only 14, my mother was diagnosed with cancer. This was the moment when I needed to know for myself if the gospel was true and if there truly was a Father in Heaven who loved me enough to send his Son, Jesus Christ, to atone for us. I received my answer! It was the most comforting and reassuring feeling that everything would be alright. Not even the doctors working with my mom could have comforted me to the degree that the spirit comforted my heart that day. I know this gospel is true. I know that my brother, Jesus Christ, atoned for everyone so that we may all return to our Heavenly Father and be with our loved ones forever. So why am I a Mormon? I'm a Mormon because I choose to be! I'm so happy with my life, and wouldn't live my life any other way. It brings me so much joy and comfort. I'm grateful for my understanding of the gospel and knowing that there is a Father in Heaven who has a purpose and plan for me here on earth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by having the courage to stand firm in my beliefs. I grew up in a school where I was the only LDS Member in my grade. It was always hard asking my friends not to swear or explaining to them why I didn't drink or wear certain immodest clothing. I knew since I was 14 that I was going to serve a mission, but none of my friends understood why I was so determined to put my life on hold for my church. But it's more than just simply putting my life on hold for my church, it's giving my entire life to follow Jesus Christ.

What is faith?

Naomi Brown
My favorite scripture is Ether 12:6. Faith is something that is hoped for but not seen and you will not receive your witness until after the trial of you faith. Do you have hope? Then have faith and keep moving forward. Show more Show less
