Hi I'm Scotty Mitts

I am a musician and missionary.

About Me

I am a missionary serving in the Irvine California Mission. I have done some college, majoring in Music, I sing baritone and compose music my own. I enjoy playing Ultimate Frisbee, football, volleyball, and basketball. I have many hobbies and am looking for which of my interests I will make a career out of. I have a large family, 6 siblings, 5 of them married, and I have 13 nieces and nephews. My family is spread out across the United States, everywhere from Florida to Hawaii. I have always wanted to learn, and as I learn more I am always astounded about how little I know. It is the same with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, it is so very simple to understand, but the applications of the knowledge of it are so very vast and inexplicable that it is truly difficult to wrap your brain around it. That is one of the reasons that I love music so much, it helps us to understand by emotion, what logic and reason have trouble grasping. Through a song we can feel the Holy Spirit testify of a love that is so grand and enormous the mortal mind has a better chance of comprehending the vastness of the universe then to find the boundaries of it. Serving my mission, I am realizing exactly what that love really means to me. I feel so privileged to be a part of Heavenly Father's work to bring happiness to His children, and I truly know that I am a child of God, and that really shows my value, my worth, and the worth of all people on this earth, because that is something that we all share.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, and grew up with it in my life. It wasn't until I graduated high school and left home that I truly began to realize how much strength the Gospel gives. I spent a few years without it in my life, and those were the hardest years of my life. Like the Prodigal Son, I returned and was welcomed with open arms, with much rejoicing, and have found joy in my life, where before there was only despair and confusion. I KNOW that Jesus Christ is my Savior, because only through him was I saved from my mistakes, and through his love and mercy, we all can overcome anything that life throws at us. I am also a member of this church because no where else can I find the comforting knowledge and understanding that we will be together as families for all eternity after this life.

How I live my faith

Any opportunity to spend time strengthening my testimony and interacting with people is something that I am all over. I love learning of the Gospel, studying the scriptures, and also sharing and listening to experiences where the principles of the Gospel are applied to our daily lives. I served in the Nursery for my congregation, and I have a great appreciation for the sweet spirit and budding testimony of small children, their sunny disposition and exuberance are a great example to us all. I am on a 2 year long mission for the church in California, where I go out and share my experiences and my love for Christ and his Gospel with the world.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Scotty Mitts
The Word of Wisdom is God's Law to help us stay healthy and happy. it includes a proper diet and abstaining from harmful substances like tobacco, alcohol, coffee, tea, and ellicit drugs. it is also a guide for us to make our own healthy choices, some people go above and beyond the letter of the law and avoid caffeine, because it can be addicting and have many negative side effects. This Law is to help us be happy and healthy so that we can have the most fulfilling life with fewer challenges. Show more Show less
