Hi I'm Mike

I grew up in the US, went to school in Hawaii, and been to Russia, Indonesia, Estonia, and South Korea and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work in IT but my true passion is Biology/Chemistry/BioTechnology. My wife and I have 3 kids and I love asian culture. I believe in a natural order to things and think religion and science will eventually prove each other. I love nature, reading, learning and love a simplistic life. I've served a mission in Siberia in Russia but my heart lies with asian cultures. I'm a bit of a rebel but that's because I choose to seek out the truth for myself and not simply follow the crowd in ignorance.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a scientific mind and believe that if you dig deep enough, there is always some law or rule or pattern that can describe everything you see, but I also believe in balance and listening to and appreciating the things that don't appear to have any scientific methodology behind it and often times, this is the piece that makes its point so much more poignantly. I believe that if you dig deep enough, you will find all truth necessary for salvation. (I haven't been disappointed yet) but I also believe that there are exceptions and that a one size fits all approach doesn't work. The gospel of Jesus Christ is a very personal thing. There is guidance from leadership, but ultimately its up to you. Its a 1:1 relationship with Christ and Heavenly Father from prayer, to repentance, to fasting, to tithing...etc. It forces you to be selfless, kind, humble, etc. but at your own pace and when you're ready to grow and improve. It provides perspective and understanding to many of the things that confuse us nowadays and it provides something better to look forward to. It helps you stay positive and lift others around you. in essence, the gospel of Jesus Christ as embodied in Mormonism is perfect. The people who try to live the gospel are not perfect, but the gospel itself is perfect and anything that we aren't ready to understand will make sense when we're ready to understand it but the entire structure is perfect and I think man is naturally inclined to find something that is perfect and explains everything. The gospel of Jesus Christ satisfies that craving. That's why I'm a mormon!!

How I live my faith

I live my faith as best I can by simply following my conscience and doing what I know to be right. I take my cue from the example of the leaders of the church. Not so much what they say, but what they do. I find that it takes a concerted effort to live the gospel because there is so much in the world today that is bombarding you with unimportant and distracting messages. I don't subscribe so much to the programs of the church as I do to the purpose or point behind those programs.
