Hi I'm Kelsey

I grew up in Minnesota & North Dakota. I'm going to school for music therapy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to sing, play piano, & guitar. I currently work at a company that helps children & adults with special needs. I hope one day to finish my degree for music therapy. I'm not a mom yet but I would love to be someday soon. I am married to the man of my dreams who found me & saved me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon. I chose this life for myself and am grateful every day that I took the first step down this path. Being a Mormon is not always easy, there are those that judge me every day, but I know that deep down in my heart I was given the greatest gift I could have ever gotten. I grew up a Lutheran & went to a Lutheran college. Up until my senior year of college I had planned to go forth into the world and do music ministry in a Lutheran church. I had always known I had wanted God to be an essential part of my life. However, I did not live an entirely wholesome life. Then one day I was online on my computer and met a certain man. We talked for a while and he told me that he was Mormon. Up until I knew him, I had never heard of a Mormon. Well, unbenounced to me I had just met my future husband. He left on his mission & we grew apart as I didn't understand why someone would leave on a 2-year trip and not be able to talk to me. I threw away the Book of Mormon that he had sent me and continued on with my life at college. It wasn't until a couple years later that we talked again. I eventually went to visit him & met his family. His mother encouraged me to call the sister missionaries & let them simply tell me about the LDS church. For months I visited with the sisters & toiled with the thought of conversion. What will my family think? How am I going to live this life? One night I sat at my desk & prayed: "Why should I join this church God? Is it the right choice for me?" I opened the LDS hymn book and found the hymn: Thy Spirit Lord, Has Stirred Our Souls & knew right away the answer God had asked me to find. In January of that year I was baptised & later that year I married the man who helped me find the LDS church. I have been a member for 2 1/2 years & cannot imagine my life any other way. Yes, I am a Mormon. It wasn't an easy journey but here I am, alive & strong in my faith & I wouldn't have it any other way.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day. Living in a community that doesn't know what a mormon is or how we live our lives can sometimes be difficult but I find my strength through my husband & our congregation. I currently have a calling as a family history consultant in our ward's family history center. I help those in the ward & community start their journey with family history/genealogy and do their family work. As a convert I found that I have SO much family history to do. I've found family back to the 1500s & learned things I would have never known.
