Hi I'm T.J. Mellars

I grew up all over the world. I love sports, and I love helping others. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I am a college student studying to become a doctor. I enjoy sports and competition very much, and I enjoy teaching other people about the things that I love. I played soccer for most of my life, and I have played volleyball for a long time as well. My dad's job has taken my family and I all over the world, and I really enjoyed living in cool places overseas. What defines the person that I am today and the paths that I have followed in my life has to be the church that I belong to. My church as belief is such a force in my life, giving me strength, courage, conviction, hope, love, and faith. Along with church, I enjoy spending my time with family, and I definitely have fun eating and socializing.

Why I am a Mormon

Like many, I am a Mormon because I grew up in this church, and when the time was appointed I was baptized into the church and became a member. I really gained my testimony of the truthfulness of this church when I went to a young men's church camp shortly after moving to Utah. While at the camp, the spirit of brotherhood and preparation for greater things around me was practically tangible. I knew then and there what life was about, and the truths taught in my church from that point on made perfect sense in my mind. The reason that I felt so strongly about the camp that I went to wasn't the actual camp, but the spirit that accompanied it. That spirit testified of truth to me, and helped me realize that I was where I belonged, and I had a loving Heavenly Father who cares about me. Ever since that point, I have tried my best to live righteously and live every day the way the Savior would want me to. Certainly there have been great bumps and even mountains in the road, but because of the foundation on which I built myself on, I prevailed and got stronger. My faith has continued to grow through active righteous living and study in scriptures, church, and especially prayer. Through the power of prayer, I am able to know that the paths that I have taken in my life are the ones that my Heavenly Father want me to take. I am so greatful for my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or the Mormon church.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith to the best I can every day. The best way that I know how to live my faith is by serving other people, just as Jesus Christ did in his life on earth. Every night before I go to bed, I have a spot in my journal for writing what service I have done for someone that day. If I am unable to fill it out, my day has not been the day that I had hoped. Service brings such joy to my life, whether it be mowing the neighbor's lawn without them knowing, or helping my mom with the dishes. I participate in my church ward by actively holding a responsibility as a home teacher, and being a roll model for those who look up to me. I really enjoy home teaching, which is getting to take the time to fellowship and watch over a few families in the ward, making sure that they know that if they need help, there are people willing. I find great joy in my life helping others and putting a smile on someone's face. I also find it very important to live my faith to the fullest within my home. It is so critical for me to do that and set a good example so that my brothers and sister can see the blessings that come from righteous living.
