Hi I'm Todd Severe

I grew up in a small town near Sheridan, Wyoming. I love playing ultimate frisbee and playing with my dog and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to go running, playing frisbee, reading books, and studying the scriptures. I am from a small town in Wyoming about 30 minutes from Sheridan. I plan on being a Greek and Roman Mythology history teacher for either high school or college. I was born and raised in the church but despite all of that I love e church and what it teaches about Jesus Christ and how he is there to help us out with everything in our life no matter how small or big it is. I have learned that our loving Heavenly Father is indeed our father and he loves us so much that we can't even begin to understand the depth of his love for each and every one of us. I know that as we pray to our father in heaven with real intent, meaning that we are going to act upon the answer we receive from him no matter what the answer is, that he will lead and guide us throughout our lives in the way that is needed. I have had to rely on him and Jesus Christ so much already in my life that I cannot even begin to relate all of the times that I have. But I know that they are there and that they love and care for us no matter what it is we do in our lives. It is because of Jesus Christ that I have been able to make it through the struggles of my life and become a better person than I was before them. I also know that he will continue to give me the strength and ability to make through current & future struggles of mine and will help me to become a better person.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised up in the church. It has helped me throughout my whole life and it has given me guidance when I most needed it. I know for a fact that the church helps those who are in need and that it blesses families. I know that families can be together forever and that prayers are answered. When I was little I lost a real close family member and I prayed about whether I would ever see them again and if he was truly there to help me. I knew that my prayer had been answered because while I was praying I felt calm and at peace with what had just happened and I felt as though they were there in my room watching, comforting, and protecting me. I promise that as you read and ponder about the Book of Mormon and then pray to ask Heavenly Father if it is true He will testify to you through the spirit that it is true. Read Moroni 10:3-5. I know that our loving father in heaven will answer your prayer because he has & is answering my prayers everyday and he is also answering every one else's prayer because he cares about you and me and wants what is best for us.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a two year mission in Arizona. I go around helping others come unto Christ by helping them come closer to Him and receive His restored gospel. I love helping others out however I can. I love reading the Book of Mormon because it helps clarify things that aren't very well understood in the Bible. The bible is an amazing book that we have been given by our father in heaven. I am always looking for opportunities to serve those around and to help them feel the love that their savior Jesus Christ has for them and to come closer to him.

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Todd Severe
Having the proper authority to perform a baptism is important because when it is done with the proper authority it allows us to make a binding promise to God that we are going to continually strive towards becoming better. Here is a simple analogy to help understand authority. Let's say you are driving your car down the road and the speed limit is 45 miles per hour and you are going 70 miles per hour, a ice cream truck driver comes up next to you and tells you to pull off to the side of the road. So you do and he writes you a ticket and tells you that you have to pay it. Are you going to pay the ticket? No, who would pay the ticket if it was given to them by a nice cream truck driver. Ok, so let's say you are in the exact same situation as stated earlier but instead of a ice cream truck driver who pulls you over it is a highway patrol man and he then writes you a ticket gives it to you and tells you that you have to pay the ticket. Are you going to pay the ticket? Of course you are. So what is the difference here between the ice cream truck driver and the highway patrol man? The difference is the authority that they have. The authority to perform a baptism is very similar to being given a ticket. That is why it is important for a baptism to be performed by the proper authority. Show more Show less
