Hi I'm Richard G.

I was born in Bel Air, Maryland. Have served in the Merchant Marine and the Coast Guard. I am a Mormon and glad of it.

About Me

I was born 17 Feb. 1928 in Bel Air, Harford, Maryland to Henry Grey & Ellen Emily (McComas) Schillinger. I retired from US Civil Service in Jan. 1984 as a GS-12. My wife and I went on a mission for our church to the island of Yap in 1984-5 and to the Salt Lake Genealogy Library in 1994-5 I have lived in Florida since 1956 except for a short time in Henderson NV and in Kaysville, UT. I currently live in Port Charlotte, Charlotte, Florida. My wife of 39 years died 10 Aug. 2007. I have been engaged in the pursuit of my family roots for over 40 years (the McComas side).

Why I am a Mormon

I was contacted by the missionaries in about August 1961 and was baptized 3 Nov. 1961. My wife at that time didn't join and as a result we divorced in 1967. I remarried in 1968 to very wonderful women who was 10 years my senior, but we had nearly 39 years together before her death. I have been much blessed by my membership as I am now 89 and in good health.

How I live my faith

I am charged with a monthly visit to the local State prison to 'mentor' a former member of the church. I am a Homer Teacher.
