Hi I'm Wes

I'm a Mormon. I wasn't raised one, but joined the church in 1979, after a stint in the U.S. Marine Corps.

About Me

Too many hobbies and interests! Civil War and Revolutionary War reenacting, classical music, Swiss watches, weight training, electric bass, Scouting, American folk art, Arthurian literature, English history, web page authoring (and writing in general), genealogy, piano, photography, Silver Age comic books, German graphic arts, film noir and foreign films, political conservatism, Homeric and classical Greece and computer networking...

Why I am a Mormon

When I first read the Book of Mormon I was convinced that it was what it claimed to be: an historical account of a people in the New World. And when I arrived at Alma 32:21, which describes the spiritual importance of hope and faith, I was convinced that, indeed, it was the revealed World of God. The choice to join the church then became obvious. After thirty plus years in the church I am convinced that I made the correct choice. The fruit of my membership and family life has been good - that means the branch of the tree is sound. If the branch is sound the root of the tree - the Gospel of Jesus Christ - is firm. He is my Savior and example.

How I live my faith

I've been in various scouting positions for eleven years... and I'm constantly trying to avoid saying insulting and foolish things. None of us are perfect; I'm certainly not. And I have a long way to go. But at least I know what direction to head!
