Hi I'm Danny Young

I grew up in the western US attending school in Utah and in Nevada. I am a Physical Therapist and a Mormon

About Me

I am a father of 2 teenagers and happily married to my wife of 16 years. I have been a physical therapist for 10 years and currently work as a professor in a physical therapy program. I love lots of things, usually too many, but some of my favorite things are science, basketball, reading, motorcycles, and being with my family. I really enjoy my work, and while I sometimes let that take too much of my time, I try to give my other loves quality time also, especially my family. I am generally happy and like people, but I like to push people to explore assumptions and opinions and so sometimes I think I'm perceived as unfriendly.

Why I am a Mormon

I did grow up with parents who were active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I know that is the strongest thing that brought me to the church but, it's not the thing that keeps me in the church. When I participate in personal and public worship of Jesus Christ using the scriptures and doctrines taught by the Church I feel great. I like to feel good and so I keep coming back. As I do, the feelings from the Holy Ghost continue to teach me that this Church contains essential truths, living prophets, and the priesthood authority to lead my spiritual journey in life. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is led by Jesus Christ through a living prophet just like His church has always been lead in the past.

How I live my faith

I really value my involvement with my church. Only doing things to help my family makes me feel as good as working to help the church function well and reaching out to other members in service. I have had several assignments in the church that allow me to visit the homes of members I do and do not know well. I love sitting down with people and discussing how the gospel of Jesus Christ can influence our lives for the better. I also enjoy teaching and have the opportunity to occasionally teach sunday school classes or speak in church. I love praying for help as I prepare a talk or lesson and feeling the Holy Ghost direct me as I organize my thoughts. I get a taste of this feeling in my work as a professor but it's nothing like the feeling of the Holy Ghost really opening my eyes about gospel truths and how to share them with others.
