Hi I'm Emily Jennings

I enjoy writing, and work part time for a local newspaper in Virginia, where I live. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

The greatest joy in my life is spending time or doing new things with my husband and children. We like to explore new places and make discoveries together. I also enjoy writing for a local newspaper and learning about my community and the interesting people who live here. My husband and I like to ride motorcycles together on the beautiful winding Virginia roads.

Why I am a Mormon

In May 2011 my oldest son, Benjamin, died at the age of 19. This was extremely difficult for me and my family. Ben was a perfectly healthy missionary for our church in Chile when he died suddenly while jogging with his companion. Struggling to deal with this terrible, unexpected loss, my knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ and His plan for happiness is what strengthens me and gives me hope for the future. I know it is through my Savior's love and His atoning sacrifice that makes it possible for me to be with my son again after this life. I look forward to that time, when all my family can be together again for eternity.

How I live my faith

I love teaching Seminary, even though class begins at 5:50 a.m.! There is nothing better than to start my day with a great group of high school students who make time in their busy schedules to learn more about the scriptures. This year we are studying the Book of Mormon, last year it was the New Testament and before that, the Old Testament. Next year we will study the Doctrine and Covenants. Each book of scripture is dear to my heart, and I strive to help my students grow to love the words of God and come unto Him.
