Hi I'm Caryn Payzant

I write a blog, The Mid Life Guru - Making the Most of Life After 50. I serve on a school board too. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Public Education has been a passion of mine my whole life. Growing up, I loved attending school and learning about anything and everything. I graduated from college and when I raised my own family, I instilled in them the same love for education. I've modeled my commitment to my children by serving as a room mom, PTA President, substitute high school teacher, and a school board trustee for over 19 years. I also serve on local, county, and state education committees, dedicated to helping all children succeed in their schooling. Indeed, life long learning has been my life long priority After turning 50, with my three children grown and out of the house, my husband and I empty nesters. While public education was still a major interest of mine, I found myself wanting to embark on a new path, something that could utilize my talents of writing and communication and one that could also incorporate my many interests. My oldest daughter suggested I start a blog. Thus, I began my journey in to all things social media. Through The Mid Life Guru, I've committed to taking the wisdom and experience gained during my first 50 years and use it as my springboard in to the next 50. I've been actively trying new things, looking at old things in a new perspective, and doing all that I can to MAKE THE MOST OF LIFE AFTER 50. It has been exciting to use the blog as a platform to share my adventures and inspire others as they also pursue their dreams and aspirations as well.

Why I am a Mormon

I love how being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints challenges me to be the best I can be in all aspects of my life. I have a close relationship with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and I strive to follow their example. I love how I can pray to them for guidance and strength and I know that I am not alone. What a comfort that is to me in this troubled world we live in. The commandments of God and the precepts of the church are not limiting but rather are the means to truly achieve goodness and joy in this life. My happiness, my peace, my desire to serve others, all comes from being a member of this church. I invite others who want to find this same comfort and peace in their own life, to check out what The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has to offer.

How I live my faith

My work on my blog and my school board activity both enhance my work with my church. I do public relations for the church in Rancho Cucamonga. In this capacity, I am out and about building bridges of friendship and understanding with different people in my community. I get to share what the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is all about and through these connections, I am forging positive relationships with people who make a difference in our community affairs. It is a wonderful opportunity to be an ambassador of good will with everyone I meet.
