Hi I'm Brooke

I'm Brooke. I am a missionary. I am from Texas. I love baseball. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Brooke. I am currently a full time missionary in the Costa Rica, San Jose mission. I love baseball, country music, and people. I like to do things, being at home by yourself sucks. Especially in the summerI live in Orem Utah and attend UVU with a major in Communications and a minor in Spanish. Drama is unnecessary. Education is mandatory. I'm a procrastinating perfectionist. I Live each day as though it were my last. Life is too short for feelin' self-conscious, for not saying how you truly feel & for not going for what you really want. My faith & family keep me going when I get down. I think simple pleasures are the best- like flowers, dancing & sunny days. I believe life is what you make of it. I know that if I follow my heart one day it will lead me down the road to someone special. Life isn't always easy, I know that from experience, but I have the most amazing people surrounding me. God has blessed me with so much and for that I consider myself very lucky.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of the church, but my mom always told me that I am not allowed to rely on her testimony and that if I did not believe in the gospel then she would not force me to live it. But I know with out a shaddow of a doubt that this church is true. Being LDS makes me happy and brings an immense feeling of peace and joy to my life. I cant imagine not being a Mormon. I know that I wont be happy if I stop living the standards of the church. I know this church is true. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I love this gospel. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet and I know that we have a living prophet today by the name of Thomas S. Monson. I know that my redeemer lives. I know that he suffered for my sins and everyone's so that one day we might return to live with out father in Heaven. Being a member of the church has taught me that I am never alone, even in my darkest hour the Holy Ghost is always there beside me. Christ will never leave you alone, and he will never give you more than you can handle. You are strong, and you CAN do it. So I guess in conclusion, I am Mormon because I love being happy, I hate being alone, and well because it is true.

How I live my faith

How do I live my faith? I just live. Its not that complicated to live righteously. I know that I can be happy with out doing the things that I am taught not to. I love my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. I read my scriptures daily and I talk to God on the regular. The power of prayer is undeniable. I try to lead a good life so that I can one day get back to my Heavenly Father, and although sometimes we mess up there is always a way back to him. I try to be happy all the time and helping people is in my nature. Both of which I was taught in primary. So I guess what it boils down to is: get up, be happy, be nice, love everyone, and have fun. If you are doing all of these things then you don't really have time for any of the bad stuff.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Brooke
In my personal opinion no church should have paid clergy. We are spreading the gospel. Jesus did not charge people to hear his word and it is his so why should we pay people to do the exact same thing that Jesus did for free? Also we don't have paid clergy because service is donated because we believe that when we are baptized we are willing to bear one anothers burdens, that they may be light and we are willing to mourn with those that mourn and comfort those that stand in need of comfort and through service we lift each others burdens. Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Brooke
We need a savior because we all mess up. We are here to gain knowledge and find our way back to our Father in Heaven and without a savior we would not be able to get there. No one is perfect and Jesus Christ as our savior provided a way that we can all be saved from the sins of the world. Because of the atonment we can be forgiven of our sins, and when they are forgiven they will be forgotten, but in order for our sins to be forgiven we need to repent and ask for forgivness.
