Hi I'm Randy

I grew up in South East Idaho on a farm and ranch. I have retired and my wife and I have been called to serve a mission in Chile.

About Me

I am just a country boy at heart who has moved to the City. I love fishing, and woodworking but have not had time to persue that hobby. I am getting older and looking forward to retirement. I have been married to my lovely wife for 42 years and still am amazed that she is so good to me. I still feel like a cowboy but I'm sure I'm to old for that kind of life. We have 6 Children and 14 grandchildren whom we love dearly. I have had the opportunity to serve in the LDS church in many capacities but much of the time i have worked with the youth. I love the young people, their enthusiasm and energy. The Youth of the church are such and inspiration to me. I love the Savior Jesus Christ and know he is my saviour and redeemer. My wife and I have just been called to serve for the next 18 months in Chile Santiago East Perpetual Education Self-reliant Center. We have been planning our whole marriage to be able to serve the Lord in the Mission Field. We are now working hard learning Spanish and preparing to leave.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have found great truth in the teachings of the LDS Church. I have studied the docrines and observed all of the wonderful service performed throughout the world by this church. As I have studied and sought the direction of the Lord as to the teachings and practices of the church it has been reveled to me of the tuths taught and observed by the LDS Church and it's members. I know it is true.

How I live my faith

In our peanut butter plant we are active in producing peanut butter for our local Food Bank to give to the poor and needy. I have served in a political position for 20 years and active in Boy Scouts of America. I have served in many leadership roles in the church and most of that time has been with youth of the Church in Scouting and with the Young Women. I have served in three bishoprics once as Bishop and the twice on the Stake High Council. I love working with the youth because for the most part they are honest in their desire to know more of the Lord. I have several neighbors who are widows and I have been able to look after them and help them from time to time which brings me a lot of joy. My wife and I have just been called to serve the Lord in the Chile Santiago East mission.

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

Randy
We believe the Lord chooses the succeeding Prophet through revalation to the council of the 12 apostles. As the Apostles are called be revelation they are ordained an apostle and join the quorum in succesion. The call is for life and as they served and are called home the apostle that sits after them advances to the seat vacated. The Senior Apostle serves as president of the quorum of the Twelve. When the Prophet passes away a solum assebly is called where all the keys revert to the quorum as a whole. Chooses the Senior apostle to fill the president and prophets postion. Show more Show less

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Randy
I have worked in a job that entails assisting individuals and comunities when disaster strikes. It is so important that we prepare ourselves in everyway possible to deal with situations that cause any kind of emergency in our lives. We need to prepare ourselves, our children and to the extent we are able our nieghbors for emergencies. When we are prepared we need not fear. Show more Show less
