Hi I'm Brandon

I'm a husband and father of two. I'm studying humanities and English in college. I've lived in Korea, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father of two cute kids. Right now I'm a college student majoring in humanities, with a minor in English. If I have time, I love to be outdoors. Camping, backpacking, and exploring are some of my favorite things to do. I also like to read, hang out with friends, and go to fine arts performances. I have lived in Pennsylvania, Oregon, Texas, Utah, and Idaho. My wife is from Washington, and she joined the Church when she was 18. Before I met her, I served as a missionary in Seoul, Korea, which is one of the best experiences of my life. Now my little family and I enjoy life (including the challenges) and the experiences we have every day. Because of my experiences, I have an unshakable confidence in the plan of happiness Heavenly Father has provided for us, His children.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who were active members. However, everyone must make the choice to learn about and decide their own involvement. When I was seventeen I decided for the first time to read the Book of Mormon cover-to-cover because I wanted to know. I read it with an open mind, and was willing to accept any outcome. As I read, I felt a warmth and peace. As I continued to read over the days and weeks I continued to feel that warmth, but I also recognized a change taking place inside me. My thoughts and feelings became more optimistic, and I was able to understand things more clearly. After that point I have tried to live the way I knew was right. Of course I have made mistakes, just like everyone else, but I have also experienced the peace that comes through the Atonement of Jesus Christ when we repent. Because of experiences over the years, I know with a certainty that God lives. I know that He has provided a plan through which we can learn and grow to become like Him. This plan is so fascinating to me. I know God loves us and is concerned about us as individuals because He is our Father. He stands ready to help as soon as we repent and decide to obey His commandments. I know for a certainty that the more we do those two things, the happier we become.

How I live my faith

The ways I live my faith give me a lot of strength to do the right things and not do the wrong things. I try to study the scriptures, pray to God, and serve my family everyday. By studying I understand God, by praying I communicate with Him, and by serving I feel His love. Visiting the temple and serving those around me also brings me happiness, strength, and peace. At church I am an assistant to the leader over the Elders (adult men who hold the priesthood). We organize activities and service, teach how to be better husbands, fathers, and disciples of Christ, reach out to those who are having a hard time, and make sure spiritual and temporal needs of families are being met. By serving each other we grow more united, and families become stronger. Living my faith is sometimes difficult, and I have a lot of room to grow, but I am so happy when I do.
