Hi I'm Tara

I'm a Russian speaker. I'm a beach lover. I'm a narcoleptic. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a 23 year old college student studying Russian. I served a 12-month mission in Novosibirsk, and absolutely loved it. If you're familiar with missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, you may know that a typical mission is 18-24 months. I returned home early for medical reasons. Though the process of coming home and receiving a diagnosis was trying and lengthy, I've learned so much about myself, others, and the Atonement. I love salsa (the food) and can eat it by the spoonfuls. The beach is my happy place. Relationships with others are my favorite thing.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm Mormon because I want to be. I know that the support I feel from my ward, leadership, and Heavenly Father has helped me through all of life's ups and downs. I know that God is there, and I want to draw near to Him. One night, I was walking with a friend in the snow and cold. There were SO many stars. I looked up and just knew that my Heavenly Father was aware of me at that very moment. He wants us to understand. He doesn't want us to be confused. He is there.

How I live my faith

To me, living my faith means standing strong even when doubts come. Clinging to what you know, and never being ashamed of it can bring a confidence into your heart that can't be found elsewhere. Questioning is an important part of the faith process, but understanding that fighting your internal waves doesn't make the waves go away but wading in a little deeper can bring peace. Prayer is crucial. Understanding faith is a choice has made the world of difference!
