Hi I'm Susan

I'm a Musician, Seamstress, Cook, and Friend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors as well as the indoors! There seems to be nothing that can stop me from hiking up a mountain and feeling like I'm on top of the world and I always feel that closeness to God. I love cooking and it's all Good foods with a lot of flavor! That has always helped me be closer to my family. That and sewing. With sewing you provide a lot of love to someone who is in need. I have always felt a need to help those around me and I know that is what God has asked of me. To help those who need it. Music is my escape like the Mountains. Whenever I have felt down or depressed I could just go up to a piano and play for an hour and whatever was or is wrong with me, seems to disappear. Music is my life-blood and so is God. I love God- he is everything to me. I know that this church is true and that it has helped me overcome a lot of problems in my life. I know that Jesus is the Christ and that the Book of Mormon testifies of him. I know that we have living Prophets and Joseph Smith restored this gospel on the earth today.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church from the time I lived in Pennsylvania, but I never truly accepted the gospel until I was about twelve years old. I felt peace and comfort unlike any other place I've ever gone and experienced. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that he restored the church that Christ established on the earth in the ancient times to the earth. I know that the Lord will always answer your prayers. I know that President Monson is the prophet on the earth today and speaks to us now as ancient prophets in the Bible and Book of Mormon did then. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that it will help explain the Bible. I believe both books to be the word of God. I know that with all my heart.

How I live my faith

Sometimes it seems hard to get up and go to church for three hours a week. I'll admit, my life is pretty busy, but I love feeling the spirit. There is so much joy in my heart singing the songs of the heart to the Lord. I teach and tutor children, as well as taking care of their dinner and caring for the cleanliness of the home.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Susan
Well, I can certainly tell you- we're not all that different from other woman as far I know. We just have different beliefs. With LDS women, we usually hold up high standards of righteousness. We believe that we have every opportunity that a man would have in working outside of the home, but we are encouraged to be a home-maker and raise our children in righteousness unto God. Men, usually have a job and take care of their families. Fathers and Mothers are equal partners in working to unify a family and help everyone have an equal part. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Susan
When people often ask me this question they ask if we believe in Christ? My immediate response is yes! We are called the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Our central beliefs are in Christ and whenever we teach anything about the church, it focuses primarily on Christ- He is the head of our Church. The Book of Mormon is a testament of Jesus Christ. When you talk to the missionaries, one of the first things out of their mouths is we are Missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We're here to be the Mouthpiece of the Lord. We continually ask, how can we further come unto Christ. Show more Show less

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Susan
After Christ's and His apostle's deaths, there was no proper priesthood authority upon the earth. We called this time the Great Apostasy. Apostasy generally occurs when a prophet is called and teaches the word of God, gradually people fall away from the church into unbelief. It occurred generally after every prophet. But because of the loss of authority upon the earth, we no longer had the correct keys to guide the church and the people. The church needed restoration because there was no authority until it was given back to the earth. The Gospel was Restored by God, through a man named Joseph Smith. He thoroughly believed in the Bible, and through God translated the Book of Mormon to testify and clarify the Bible, not to refute it. Show more Show less

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

Susan
There are people who are always willing to talk to you about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. First we have missionaries who voluntarily go out to preach the word of God, then we have any member who would be willing to talk with you, and finally you can come worship with us at our chapels. We are willing to talk and explain anything that may be unclear. We are friendly, nice, down-to-earth people. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Susan
So, the body is a gift from God to man. We don't drink coffee, tea, or Alcohol, use Tobacco, or Illegal Drugs. These things can cause harm to our bodies and addictions to form. We want to keep our bodies healthy and do the things which are good for man. We also believe by following these health guidelines we can be better in tune to the Holy Ghost and have many blessings of a healthy body and mind. Show more Show less
