Hi I'm Mariah Hunt

I'm from California. I study world humanities in Hawai'i and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Nice to meet you! I'm Mariah. I'm a university student from California, but right now I'm serving as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Before my mission I studied World Humanities at a university in Hawai'i. I love learning about other peoples' cultures. Learning about what is important to a group of people -- for example, their literature, music, philosophy -- helps one to understand that group of people. It helps one to love and appreciate a group of people. Because of that, studying those things is really important to me. Right now I'm working as a full-time missionary. I'm sharing the things that I believe and that are important to me with the people in Japan. Through this experience I have learned a lot about what is important to the people here. Also, I have learned a lot about what is important to me and what I believe. I believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior. I know that anyone who follows his example will become a better person. Living in Japan has helped me to see that that is true for any person in any culture.

Why I am a Mormon

In this church I have been able to learn about real love. I have been able to learn about my Heavenly Father and what He desires for me. That has brought me a comfort and happiness that cannot be found in any other way. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to strengthen my faith every day. Right now I'm working as a missionary in Japan. Every day I have the opportunity to study the Book of Mormon, to pray, to keep the commandments I have been given by a loving Heavenly Father and to find people to teach about Jesus Christ. Of course this experience is special. As a sister (female) missionary I only serve for a year and a half. But through this experience I have learned that strengthening faith is something that takes effort everday. Jesus Christ taught us that, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God withall thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets" (Matthew 22: 37-40). I think for everyone these two commandments are difficult at times. I have felt at times in my life that these two things were impossible. But through trying everyday to pray, study God's words in the scriptures and obeying His commandments I have been able to do those two things. I am so grateful for that.
