Hi I'm Sara

I grew up in Alaska. I'm a soon-to-be BYU journalism graduate. I love reading, writing and social media. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently in my last semester of college studying journalism and editing. My greatest passion is writing. When I was little, I spent a lot of time making up stories and writing them down. When it came time for me to pick a career, I knew that the field of communications was where I was meant to go. I believe that learning is a never-ending process and as a result, I have a large variety of interests. I love swimming. When I was in high school I was on my school's varsity swim team and I also participated in track and field. I love music. I play the flute and am learning to play the guitar and keyboard. My favorite scripture is Mosiah 28:3 and I am currently a Family Home Evening Group Leader in my YSA ward.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that was LDS. My mother joined the church when she was 16 and my father joined after they were married. Years later I came along and was raised in the church. The reason I am a Mormon is because I have experienced the strengthening power it has. Towards the end of my high school career and during the beginning of college I struggled a lot with depression and thoughts of suicide. The things that helped the most as I was going through that was the gospel, especially the Book of Mormon and friends that had come to be my friends because of my involvement in church. I know that the gospel has been what has helped me during the darkest times of my life and I know that Christ can heal all of our wounds no matter what they are. He can also help us through our toughest trials. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that it can guide us during these latter days. I know that it is relevant to us today and that Joseph Smith translated it through the power of God. Most of all I know that the Church is true and that it presents the fullness of Gods gospel to the earth.

How I live my faith

For the first three years of my college experience, I was a student leader. As a student leader I got to represent my faith and my Savior to a large variety of people around the country. During my final year of school, I was also an intern for the LDS Church's public affairs office in Germany. Through these experiences I've learned the importance of showing others what you believe by practicing what you preach. By living the commandments I show them what it means to be a member of the Church and a disciple of Christ. I know that as long as I live the gospel standards and do what I can to be closer to Christ my efforts will be reflected in my actions and be apparent to my non-member friends.
