Hi I'm Amanda

I am serving in the Nebraska Omaha Mission. I love life, peanut M&Ms, and my blue ukulele. And I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a sister missionary serving in the best mission on earth- the Nebraska Omaha Mission, at Winter Quarters! I love my mission, I love the people, and I love this gospel. I am the oldest of five children. I am a country girl! I miss my Idaho sunsets and mountains, but I love the hills and green-ness of Nebraska. Before my mission, I went to school for two years at BYU. I am in the Nursing program there, and will finish when I get home. I love helping people, and I try to center my life on serving the Lord. I love to play the piano, read, bake, watch movies, listen to music, be in the mountains, watch football, spend time with friends and family, and make music with my amazingly talented sister! Fall is my favorite season. Cloudy days are the best. I also can't wait to be a wife and mother. Everything I do now is to prepare me for those roles.

Why I am a Mormon

Because the gospel makes me happy! It gives my life perspective. It is happiness that doesn't just last for a few hours, or a day, or even for my lifetime on this Earth. It lasts for eternity! Forever! Sometimes in life, things happen and it's easy to be afraid and lose that perspective. But we can make that fear go away by showing faith. Faith is power! Through our faith in the Atonement, Christ will give us strength beyond our own to face whatever trials may come our way. THIS is the joy the gospel can bring. It is so real! Without a doubt I know this church is true. I have had no huge life-changing experience that has made this known unto me. It is the constant, quiet feeling of peace in my heart, even while surrounded by so much evil in the world, that testifies to me of the truthfulness of this gospel. It is the tender mercies shown to me every day by my loving Heavenly Father that remind me who I am and why I am here. I am a daughter of God. I have a divine mission and purpose to fulfill. I love my Savior and my Heavenly Father with all my heart, and the joy I find by following them surpasses any other feeling I have ever felt before. In them I am truly, completely, and eternally happy!

How I live my faith

Going on a mission was never in my plans, because I had already started my program at BYU. It is what I had prayed about, planned for, and I knew it was what Heavenly Father wanted me to do. But then I began to feel like something was missing in my life. The more I pondered and prayed about it, the more I realized Heavenly Father was urging me to put my current plans on hold and go on a mission. I was terrified, because my future all of a sudden seemed uncertain. But I knew it was the right thing to do, and I made the decision to go. The day I made that decision, my life changed forever! I thought things would get easier once I made the decision, but life was still hard. But since that day I have also seen more miracles in my life than ever before. I have learned and now have a firm testimony that when we sacrifice our own desires for the Lord's, we are blessed beyond anything we can imagine. Our way might be good, but His way is always better. I know now that life is always better if we align our will with his, trusting him and loving him with all that we have. He knows what we need, better than ourselves. And now, serving a mission, I have the chance to share that message with everyone I meet, and help them find that same peace I have found.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Amanda
For me personally, small blessings shown to me on a daily basis testify to me that there is a God. When a small prayer is answered, or when someone shows me they care. Nothing is a coincidence! The amazing beauty and grandeur of the biggest mountains down to the smallest particles that make up matter testify that God exists, and He loves and cares for His children. Show more Show less
