Hi I'm CR

I grew up in the wide open spaces of North Dakota and Montana, enjoy the outdoors and love sports - and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of yours, mine, and ours - 2 of each! It has been an interesting experience raising such a family! Not knowing what I wanted to do when I graduated from high school, I first went to a trade school, then a business college and finally a university where I received a Computer Science degree. Now I work in the Compensation and Benefits area of Human Resources. While I grew up a rural town in North Dakota, over the course of my life I have lived in Montana, Utah, South Dakota, Oregon, Texas, Colorado, Missouri, Indiana, Michigan, Arizona and Pennsylvania. I would have never charted my life's journey over much of the United States!

Why I am a Mormon

I didn't grow up a Mormon. In fact, I didn't join the Mormon Church until I was 21 years old. I wasn't looking to change my religion. In fact, the reason I learned about the Mormon Church had nothing to do with finding a new religion - it related to me wanting to "protect" a friend who had agreed to go to an "open house" at a church. I thought this strange and asked her what kind of church would have an "open house" - she reluctantly said the "Mormon Church". So I went with her to "protect" her. This set in motion the most amazing sequence of events that changed my life forever. I listened to what the 2 "Sister" missionaries were teaching, from Jesus Christ visiting the Americas, to Prophets still on the earth, to new scripture given to God's children - it all made so much sense to me! After a couple of sessions, the missionaries asked me to pray about everything. I remember sitting in my VW Squareback and asking God that if what I was doing was "right" that I might know. Immediately, such a powerful feeling came over me - it was as if my entire heart was going to explode! Even though this happened many years ago I cannot deny the feelings that I had at that time. Over the years I have felt the Holy Ghost as He has testified to me of the truthfulness of something that was important for me to understand at a particular point in time in my life.

How I live my faith

My faith helps define who I am. It's something that I try to live on a regular basis. I pray before I start my day, at the end of the day, and along the day when I need help, which sometimes can be quite often! I also read the scriptures daily. Along with another member assigned to me in a companionship, we visit 4 other families monthly. In our visits we share a lesson, visit the families to see of any needs they have, and mainly just be a friend. With my own family, we set aside a special "family night" one night a week where we share a practical life lesson or maybe just go to a movie - what's most important is that we draw closer as a family. My faith helps me know that I have a Heavenly Father who wants me to be a tool in helping others and in also being successful. I know Jesus Christ lives as I have experienced his influence many times throughout my life. Everything is not always perfect, sometimes far from it, but I know that if I try to do what is right that God will help me, sometimes even carry me, over life's bumpy road.

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

CR
Husbands and wives are equal partners in the family. Both mother and father have a necessary and important role in the lives of their children. Parents’ work in the home will be more effective if their first priorities are God, each other, and their children. Show more Show less
