Hi I'm Cheryl

I grew up in North Carolina. I'm a student at a public university. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a sophomore at a North Carolina public university. Currently I'm studying Interior Design, but my interests are varied. I love playing games and doing puzzles. I love to talk walks and relax. I love going to church and spending time with my friends!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church. When you are born and raised in the church, sometimes it is difficult to gain your own testimony because you feed off your parents so much. Throughout my life, I've been through periods where I was more active in the gospel and periods when I was not following the teachings of Christ as much as I should have been. I feel my true conversion has just started. I've had a testimony before, but it is beginning to become more developed, and it is beginning to be more strengthened because of choices I am making in my life. When I first moved out on my own I did not have the strongest testimony. I went to church, but that was all I did. However, this past summer I became more active in the church. I started going to Institute and Family Home Evening with the young single adults. I made more friends. I felt more involved in the church, and it made me want to gain a stronger testimony. I was encouraged to talk to my bishop about previous transgressions. As I did these things I found myself having a stronger desire to be a better person, and to live the gospel and follow the commandments. I have made a lot of progress since then and hope to gain a stronger testimony. I know the gospel of Jesus Christ that we have in this church is the only true gospel on the earth. I know Christ died for us and through the Atonement we can be forgiven and return to live with Heavenly Father again.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday, Family Home Evening every Monday, and Institute every Wednesday with the other young single adults in my area. I just moved here so hopefully I will be able to do more service in the church as I get more accustomed to the area. I make sure to read and study my scriptures every day. I strive to strengthen my testimony every day by trying to be Christ-like, showing love to those I come in contact with, and striving to have the Holy Ghost with me.

Are Mormons Christians?

Cheryl
Yes! We believe in and study Christ and His teachings. We believe in charity and the pure love of Christ. We believe in being Christ-like and serving others. Jesus Christ fulfilled the Atonement so we could repent and return to live with Heavenly Father. We worship in the name of Jesus Christ and we love Him dearly. Show more Show less

What is the difference between attending church and the temple?

Cheryl
Attending church is something we do each Sunday. We partake of the sacrament and attend Sunday School and other classes. At church we can fellowship with others, study scriptures, meet with church leaders, fulfill responsibilities, do family history work, etc. Attending the temple is much more sacred. The temple is the House of the Lord and should be treated as such. Only those who are worthy can enter the temple and partake of the ordinances performed there. The temple is the place where we do things such as baptisms for the dead and get married. Show more Show less
