Hi I'm Abby

I am a Colorado native, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a soon-to-be college grad with a communication degree. I love a good poem (the kind that don't rhyme), hikes that make me feel like I just had a workout, and journaling as an emotional release.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it brings me lasting happiness that can't be found anywhere else. The happiness I'm talking about is not like an adrenalin rush that wears off after 20 minutes. It is the kind of happiness stays. It is the kind that reassures me that there is a purpose and meaning behind my life. I feel this happiness because God lives. He is our loving Heavenly Father, and because he loves us he sent His Son Jesus Christ to the earth to be our Savior. This truth gives me joy and peace, even among the difficulties of life.

How I live my faith

I understand that being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is an everyday choice. Each day I strive to strengthen my relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ by reading in the scriptures (including the Bible and Book of Mormon) and by praying. I love how these small acts can give me comfort and direction to personal needs. I currently am a Sunday School teacher at Church, and I love the discussions I have with my class. I don't stand at the front of the room with intent of teaching everyone answers; rather, we learn together as we ask questions and read from the scriptures.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Abby
Joseph Smith was the prophet God called to restore the original Church of Jesus Christ on the earth again. We talk about him because by knowing that Joseph Smith was called as a modern prophet, we understand that God still calls prophets today. Although we don't worship Joseph Smith, we are grateful for his willingness to serve God as the prophet to restore Christ's Church. I like learning about Joseph Smith's life because he serves as an example of someone who trusts in God. Show more Show less
