Hi I'm Mandy

I was born and lived in California for 11 years then I moved to Utah. I love to read. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My father was married and had three children, got divorced and married my mom and had my sister and myself. My Uncle lives at our house right now. My dad is a long haul truck driver and is gone for two to three weeks at a time sometimes. I am a senior in high school. I have traveled from Washington down and over to Arkansas.I have also been to Florida. I am preparing to become a dental hygienist and I am going to college next year. I enjoy reading in my spare time (most of the time, I read outside) and I try to write in my journal frequently. I love to spend time with my family and friends. I love to learn the gospel and to challenge myself to live what I learn.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? I have been a Mormon since I was born, but I was not as willing to be a Mormon my whole life. After going through a phase when I would think "Once I turn 18, I'm not going to church anymore (like my older siblings)" I realized that a large part of my life was missing. I would go to church, but I would not pay attention to what was being taught. Slowly, I came back to wanting to go. I turned 12 and went to Girls Camp and that I where I learned that the church was true- through the testimonies of all the young women and leaders there. Since then, I have been glad to go to church and church-related activities. I especially love to participate in youth service projects.

How I live my faith

My calling in the church is 1st Counselor to the young women from the age of 16 to 18, though I spend time with all of the girls. I attend church frequently and I participate daily in seminary. I enjoy going to seminary and love to help others understand the gospel questions they might have.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Tithing is voluntarily giving ten percent of your income to a specific purpose in God's church. When you go to pay tithing, you fill out a slip with multiple options for you to choose from such as: -Ward Missionary: giving the money you pay to any current missionaries that are out on their mission from your ward. -General Missionary: sending the money to places like to MTC (missionary training center) to help pay for funds they have. -Book of Mormon: money to help with the publishing and translating of the book of mormon. -Humanitarian Aid -Temple Construction -Perpetual Education: money that pays the seminary teachers and -Other. We can choose where we specifically want our money to go or we can just put down the money in the "Tithing" category. Show more Show less
