Hi I'm Jared

I grew up in Montana, love my life, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from Montana and love doing anything in the outdoors like horseback riding, boating, fishing, hiking, hunting, etc. I also love sports and especially playing with my siblings while I'm at home or playing with friends while I'm at college where I am studying geology. I also like reading books and some of my favorite genres are westerns and fantasy. Most of my jobs have been outdoors such as farm-work, grounds-keeping, installing sprinkler systems, and building log home frames and recently I have tried door-to-door sales.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up, my parents were Mormons, so, naturally, when I was younger I went to church with them. But, as I got older, I needed to find out for myself. I prayed to God often and found that He does love me and answer my prayers. I tried to read the scriptures on a daily basis and could see the difference in my life when I did read scriptures and pray, and when I didn't. I began to realize how good if felt to give service, to be kind, to show love, and to try and worry about others more than myself. I saw how mistakes I made in my life affected the way I related to people and myself in a negative way. And, I saw how doing the right things and being able to repent through Christ's sacrifice brought me peace and happiness. I frequently heard or saw as the leaders of our church, prophets and apostles, spoke and the positive feelings and blessings I received as I listened and then followed what they taught. Then, after high school I gave up two years of my life to preach the restored gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of Russia and that solidified all of my convictions about the truthfulness of the LDS church and the doctrines and principles that it teaches. The doctrines taught are so pure and God does speak today! To the world He speaks through His Prophet - President Thomas S. Monson. And we individually can receive personal guidance from Him everyday as we study His words contained in the scriptures and as we pray to know the truth. God loves us and wants to bless us!

How I live my faith

I'm definitely not perfect, but I try to live in accordance with the principles and doctrines that Christ taught. I enjoy opportunities to serve someone in need of help and many of those opportunities come with our opportunity to have "callings" in our ward. These are just responsibilities that we are given the opportunity to take over for a while. One such example is being the leader of a group of men in the ward and part of that responsibility is to organize home-teaching, which ensures that each family is met with each month and that all their physical and spiritual needs are taken care of. Basically it's just an opportunity to look after one another and to be aware of anyone who is going through a hard time. Right now my "calling" is to help prepare those who haven't served missions for the opportunities and responsibilities that they'll have as they devote two years to preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I served a two-year mission in Russia. These "callings" are all voluntary and I think it is amazing that so many people are willing to give up so much of their time and effort.
