Hi I'm Emily

I am a Short and Feisty Wife to an amazing Man, Mother of Three, a Volunteer Firefighter/EMT, a Dance Instructor and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a short and feisty mom of equally feisty and energetic children. My son and twin daughters manage to keep me on my toes while teaching me a lot about life. I am married to a strong and nurturing husband who is more than willing to help cook, clean and care for the kids. Together we are raising our young family to serve the Lord and our community. With the help of my entire family, I teach Ballroom, Latin and Swing Dancing. We also enjoy hiking, backpacking, camping, fishing, walking along the beach and playing games as a family. I love to cook, play the piano and flute, sing, scrapbook and keep things organized. Most of all, I love sharing my talents with others and helping my children develop their talents. I have a BA in Social Sciences with Minors in French and Spanish. I enjoy studying cultural differences across the world, the influence of media, autistic spectrum disorders and ways to help families stay together and to help at risk youth make healthier choices. I knew finishing my education was very important even though I was a stay at home mom. Today, I continue to stay at home with my children while my husband works, but I think it is important for myself to learn and grow, so I joined my husband as a Volunteer Firefighter/EMT. Firefighting is very challenging, but equally rewarding. I greatly enjoy working my body and brain to figure how to help those at their greatest time of need. Most of all, I enjoy using my free time to enrich the lives of others.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the Gospel of Jesus Christ as it is taught at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints seems to me, to be full, to have every piece of the puzzle. Everything fits, everything makes sense and it brings great peace, joy and happiness to my life. When we do have questions, we believe that we can pray to our Heavenly Father and receive answers for ourselves, directly from him. This principle has been a guiding influence throughout my life, and is a major reason why I am a Mormon. I was born to amazing parents who after a rough start in life, converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Despite struggling with their own faith - they worked hard to teach us the principles of the Gospel. I clung onto everything I learned about the Savior and his teachings. Even though we didn't attend church very often, when we did, it made a lasting impression upon me. As a child, I attended several different churches with my friends, but every time I attended a different church, something was missing. The lessons taught seemed empty and left a sense of despair. They didn't have answers to many questions about life. Questions that were fully answered by what I learned at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. What especially struck me was that they focused on the fact that we are hopeless sinners, instead of teaching about the love our Heavenly Father has for us and the ability we have to repent and be completely forgiven of our sins. All of these things had a great impact on my faith. When I was 12, after much searching, pondering and praying, I felt a firm confirmation in my heart that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was the only church that taught the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was led by a living Prophet and Apostles. As I navigate the ever changing waters of life, my testimony of this revelation stands as a lighthouse leading me closer to my Heavenly Father every day.

How I live my faith

My faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ permeates throughout every aspect of my life. I can not think of a moment, or decision that I have made that hasn't been influenced by my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I strive to follow the Savior's example by serving other people and truly showing respect, love and kindness to those around me. My husband and I work diligently to teach our children the importance of serving others and giving love and respect to everyone regardless of our differences in opinion, lifestyle or appearance. We have friends from all walks of life and appreciate the unique contributions they bring to our lives. I have been greatly blessed with the opportunity to serve those around me at church through various assignments, as well as through volunteering in my community. I have spent many years teaching and leading others at church and in the community. I also serve alongside my husband as a volunteer firefighter, something that greatly enriches my life. Much of my time is spent in the background when I stay at home with the kids so my husband can attend trainings and meetings to use his talents to serve others. I believe that life is always better when you serve others and share your greatest joys with those around you. I also firmly believe that living your faith and serving the Lord is more than a Sunday gig, it is a 24/7 kind of a deal. I hope that I can teach these same values to my children, along with the importance of empathy, integrity, virtue, humility and being a kind person who can stand for truth and righteousness at all times and in all things and in all places. I strive each day to fully live the values that I profess to believe in and I am so grateful for a loving, forgiving Heavenly Father who understands that I will make mistakes and has sent His perfect Son to provide a perfect example for me and to atone for my sins so that I too can return to live in His presence again with my family by my side.
