Hi I'm Eric

I grew up in California. I am an School Teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

At the age of 20 I was diagnosed with CML or Chronic myelogenous leukemia, because of that I went through a bone marrow transplant. It has been 9 years and I am doing great. I am now a teacher waiting for the economy to turn aroud. In the mean time I am working as a substitute teacher. I love being a teacher it is and amazing oppertunity to help change lives. The best moments in teaching are always when you see the light come on in a students eyes to see they truely understand what you taught them.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who are active members of the church but that is not why I am still a member of the church. Alot of people assume I am just a member because my family is but thats not true. I am a member because I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to find out if it is true. I am a member because when I prayed I felt his spirit touch my heart. I am a member because at the lowest moments in my life he was there and I felt his love. As I went through my bone marrow transplant and I was going through full body radiation and felt at times like I just wanted it to end I would pray and I felt added strength to make it through. I know that the things I have learned through my membership in this church have made me a better person. I know that these things are true and they can change your life.

How I live my faith

I am the the president over the mens organization within the church in my area, as such I have the oppertunity to teach and work to help the men in our church become better husbands, fathers, and members of society. Just like in my career as a teacher I find that most of the time when I am teaching I am learing alot more than those in my class. I also participate with the youth of the church through Boy Scouts of america. When I was a youth there were leaders who helped me become an Eagle Scout and now I get the chance to help a new generation achieve that. One of my favorite things to do is to plan fun activities such as dances, and New Years parties which give us the opertunity to socialize outside of typical church services.
