Hi I'm Ryan

I live in Maine. I am a chef at a Japanese restaurant. I want to own my own restaurant someday. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I lived most of my life out west. That's where I went to college and met my wife. Now we have a baby girl and are living in New England, very different from any place else I've lived. I work as a chef in a Japanese restaurant. I chose cooking as my career because I just love creating something that wasn't there at the start of the day. I plan to open my own restaurant someday. I look forward to the challenge and excitement and also the chance to creat exactly the food that I want to make.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because the Spirit of God has testified to me in my heart that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints is the true Church of Christ, and that Christ lives, and leads his Church today. I'm also a Mormon because it is the best way to live that I have ever found, anywhere in any place on earth. Mormons love their God, they love Jesus Christ, they love each other, they love the poor and the sick and elderly, they love their families, and so do I.

How I live my faith

Even though I love to cook, there are two things I love even more; my Heavenly Father and my family. Restaurant life doesn't easily coincide with religious or family life, so I have to really make the effort to prioritize. I am fortunate not to work on Sundays so I can attend church. Going to church is very important to me. Heavenly Father gave us so much through His Son, Jesus Christ. One of the things he asks for in return is one day each week where we devote our time, our thoughts, and our hearts to worshipping Him and serving those around us. I teach Sunday School for the 16 and 17 year olds. I love it, they are at a time in their lives when their personalities are so strong and their faith is so bright. They are a joy to teach. Making meaningful time to be a husband and a dad often means making the most of mornings. I work late five nights a week, but I never have to be to work before 10 in the morning, so baby and I have playtime, mommy and I go running, and we all laugh a lot. I love being a daddy more than anything else.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No, we worship God, who is the father of our eternal spirits, our Heavenly Father. Joseph Smith was called and chosen to reestablish on Earth the church that Jesus Christ established in his Earthly ministry. Joseph Smith played and important role, endures much ridicule and persecution, and ultimately gave his live for his faith, and for these reasons we love and respect him. He was chosen to give back to the world many of the plain and precious truths that had been lost since Christ's time on Earth ended. Without Joseph's willingness, worthiness, and dedication, the Church of Christ would not have been restored. He is a man worth respecting and honoring, but we do not worship him. Show more Show less
