Hi I'm Kris

I live in beautiful north Jersey. 4 generations in my home-love it! 4 children, 5 grandkids across U.S. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In my middle aged years, the definition of old is changing. Very little grey hair so far, yea! No reason for grey hair 'cause my family is so great. Four generations keep my home hopping and full of love. My wife (born in Africa), in-laws (immigrated from Africa), third daughter, her husband, and two children (3 yrs and 9 months old) allow me to truly know what "love at home" is all about. My other children live in the D.C. area, Southern California, and Phoenix, AZ attending Arizona State for her Masters. Four children and five grandchildren. I love being so close to NYC so I can visit and enjoy, then leave to relax in my home where the town does sleep. Music adds a level of happiness I otherwise would not have. I sing, have directed a choir, am a drummer (played in a band for two years); but most wonderfully am blessed to have musical children and sons/daughters-in-law who sing, play piano, saxophone, clarinet, flute, and guitar. I am conservative with liberal children, makes for lively discussion. At least within our family, I can say that our political leanings are born of compassionate hearts, striving to find the best way to bless others lives. Tambien, hablo espanol.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an LDS family but was not born with a testimony. I have continued as a member of Christ's church by way of prayer and striving to follow His example. I know that the Holy Ghost, a member of the Godhead, has testified of the Christ's divinity, atonement, restoration of His gospel, and continuing revelation to a prophet. The Spirit's voice testified via a sweet, loving, and quiet whisper that pierced my heart. As I study the scriptures, "counsel with the Lord in all my doings" (Book of Mormon - Alma chapter 37, verse 37), serve my family and others, my testimony grows. I know that Christ lives. I know that He, through His atonement and sacrifice, gave me the gift of repentance and salvation. I know the heavens have opened and He guides His church by revelation to a prophet, such that we can all know that He loves us every bit as much as those blessed by His revelations, example, and teaching in the Old and New Testament days. I know that I can live eternally with my family, made possible by the restoration of sacred ordinances and covenants.

How I live my faith

Within the L.D.S. church are many opportunities to serve, both in "callings" and among the community in times of need or emergency. When 19, I was called to serve a mission in Chile, where I lived for two years, testifying of Christ's love and the restoration of His gospel. I have been so blessed to called to serve the youth and be a leader of adult members. I have served as Bishop of Mormon Wards, or congregations, in Oregon and New Jersey. As Bishop, I came to truly learn to look into the heart of each member, each a child of God, striving to follow Christ. My capacity for love grew the more I served. I currently serve as First Counselor in a Stake Presidency (a Stake is made of a multiple "Wards" or congregations") which affords me the wonderful opportunity to serve more, learn from those I serve as they exhibit humility and commitment to the principles of Christ. I have also been able to lend a helping hand when a family is moving, have a leaky roof, or as has been the case recently, devastated by natural disasters. In summary, I strive to live the Gospel of Christ by loving my family and all others and serving others. I am far from perfect and am so grateful for the example of others and, most importantly, Christ's atonement, allowing me to repent and bear burdens that otherwise would be overwhelming.
