Hi I'm Karen

I live in Maine. I enjoy yoga, hiking and cycling. I am a home-schooling mom. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was so blessed to be born into a home where adventure, creativity and curiosity were encouraged. I cherish memories of being raised close to the national parks in Southern Utah. After graduating from college, I moved to the east coast where I discovered the ocean and trees. I ride my bike as much as I can, enjoy yoga, organic gardening, and hiking. I am a mother of 5 and currently I am home-schooling my two youngest sons. I love being busy and keeping life fun. I have a great husband who works at home as an artist and we cook, work on the yard, and love life together (without a television!)

Why I am a Mormon

My ancestors were Mormon pioneers and made great sacrifices as part of their religion. This included separation from family, lose of personal possessions and even the death of family members . This heritage is a great strength in my life, something I appreciate and cherish more each year. I am grateful for the testimony and sacrifices of those who came before me. It was when I was a teenager I felt the joys of living the gospel for myself and learned to stand alone in my faith. I knew my parents had testimonies and through reading, studying and following their example, I was able to know for myself. This knowledge continues to provide my greatest joys in life. I have always loved the prophets and I am so grateful that the heavens are open and the Lord continues to bless all of his children with words from a living prophet. I have seen great blessings come to me and my family as we listen closely and apply the prophet's teachings in our lives. It is the safe harbor that I need to protect me from life storms. The Lord has blessed my life with such abundance. As I have come to see God as my Heavenly Father, I can understand his desires to bless me as one of his children. I believe he is willing and anxious to bless everyone who puts his trust in him and is willing to serve him.

How I live my faith

I love being a Mormon and it affects every single day of my life. I started to read the scriptures as a youth and now I enjoy teaching them to my own children and to the youth at church. Reading the scriptures daily provides such peace to my busy days. I also love to organize people and things. Through my service in the church, I have had the opportunity to organize things I never would have imagined: camps for youth, trips for young adults, conferences and many service projects and events. As I serve, I discover that the Lord can make much more out of my life than I every imagined.
