Hi I'm Doris

I'm a native Californian, but descended from Mormon pioneers. I'm active in local and state politics. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm married with five children and sixteen grandchildren. I'm a college graduate with a BS in elementary education from UCLA. I do a lot of traveling, to the British Isles, Europe, Russia, Australia, Chile, Argentina, Spain... We celebrate all holidays and birthdays with our extended family.

Why I am a Mormon

A huge family reunion with cousins in Arizona opened my eyes to the Mormons. Then, the missionaries came, I studied more, waited five years, and that got me started. One cousin kept calling me and saying "Are you reading the Book or Mormon." I decided I had better start reading it so I could say, "Yes!" Then I started attending Institute classes (gospel studies). I am a Mormon because the LDS church taught me so much more about the gospel. I told my husband, "It took me from first base to home plate."

How I live my faith

Even before I joined the church, I was always studying the gospel. I have an unshakeable faith in our savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. I continue to study and teach our family members about the Gospel. One of my favorite callings was doing community relations with public affairs for the church. I loved serving the community and the needy, bringing joy to our caseworker and to those who needed our help.
