Hi I'm Kim

I'm a Teaching Assistant for Elementary students, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, mom of two, and a new grandmother. I enjoy using my artistic ability through painting, decorating and making jewelry. I love going to work every day, and seeing the faces of the children I work with. It makes me feel as though I can make a difference in this world, even in small ways.

Why I am a Mormon

My family converted to the gospel when I was eight, and I was baptized at that time. Through the years, our family stopped attending church as my mom struggled with depression, and my dad was focused on raising me and my brothers, as well as keeping his business running. In my late teens, my parents and younger brother once again became active. Although I believed in God, I wasn't interested in formalized religion. I eventually married in the Catholic church, which was my husbands faith. A few years later, my father's mom became interested in the Church through reading The Ensign magazine, had the missionary discussions, and was baptized. My husband and I were invited to attend, and although I wasn't really interested in going to church, we attended out of respect for my grandmother. We arrived during the service prior to the baptism, and quietly sat down in the back of the room. Within minutes, an overwhelming feeling came over me, one that is difficult to describe. The spirt of the Lord touched my heart in a way I will never forget. My husband felt the same way. I decided to participate in the missionary discussions as an adult, in order to make an informed decision as to whether or not I wanted to be a member of this Church. We had the discussions, my husband was baptized, and we've never turned back. Over the years I have developed a close relationship with my Heavenly Father. He has been there for me throughout all my trials and struggles. I know all I need to do is pray to Him, and I will receive guidance and be comforted. Being a member of this Church has changed my life in the best way possible.

How I live my faith

I've been an active member for almost 30 years, and have provided service in many different areas. I'm currently teaching the Sunday School class for the youth in our Ward. I love this opportunity, as it forces me to study the scriptures and learn more myself. I know I can't teach them unless I understand myself. I enjoy the challenge of helping the youth to understand the gospel, the scriptures, and how we can apply these things to our everyday lives.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Of all of the blessings I have received through membership in this Church, the gift of the Holy Ghost is the most precious. When I have important decisions to make, when I'm struggling with a problem, when I need comfort for any reason, I pray to my Heavenly Father. Through the gift of the Holy Ghost, I am able to spiritually hear the voice of the Lord, who guides and directs me in all things. I don't know how I would get through life without this great blessing from our Father in Heaven. Show more Show less
