Hi I'm Burk Price

I grew up in the rural mountains of Arizona. I'm a software engineer/architect/entrepreneur. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a husband to a wonderful wife and father of 2 extraordinary girls. I like to read, sing, cycle, swim, do large and small construction projects, and play outside. I'm in school to get a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and an Associates degree in Spanish that were postponed almost 20 years ago. Being involved in any creative process is what I look forward to every day.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was born and raised in the Church, my parents never stopped me from making my own choices. Before any activity I attended - school dance, football game, date - Mom or Dad would always suggest to make good choices and that no matter what might happen, they loved me. They meant it. I knew they loved each other and me and my siblings. Everything they did pointed to the fact that their happiness came from living the Gospel of Jesus Christ and making the best decisions they could, and keeping the covenants they had made with God. Mom still constantly reminds me that God has constantly shown her how much He loves me, and as a result, she can't do anything else but love me too. I remember her once saying, "God doesn't make junk and that includes you." My own life experiences have taught me that my parents know more than I give them credit for. I have found my own answers by following my parents example: live an honest life with the intent to be found in the service of God by serving others while keeping the covenants and promises you make with God and your neighbors and friends. Service to God, family, community, and country may never be a "popular" thing, but it is the right thing and can only be counted towards me as a blessing and pleasure. I know God speaks to us, and if we but listen ready to hear then we too will know what it means to be influenced and guided by our Creator.

How I live my faith

I make an effort to be informed about activities regarding our city council and local efforts to strengthen the community. My family and I make an effort to participate in food or book drives benefiting our local community. My favorite assignment in the Church was as a nursery leader on Sundays to help little ones learn of Christ and learn to share. We didn't have to teach them to love. They already knew that from their wonderful parents and siblings.

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

Burk Price
The Lord chooses the prophet as he as always chosen his prophets. The choice for a prophet of the Lord is not mine to make. Christ has laid out how that determination is made following the pattern established in the original quorum of the 12 when he was upon the Earth. It is, however, for me to choose whether or not I wish to follow the prophet's council, and by extension, the Lord's council. It is also important to state that once I make the choice to follow the prophet's council, the covenants and promises I have previously made bind me to that decision. The natural consequences of following that council and keeping those covenants protect and bless me. Show more Show less
