Hi I'm Kayla

I am from Utah. I'm an art major. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As of now I am serving a full time mission for my church. I am serving in Orlando, Florida. Its amazing how much my mission has helped me grow! I didn't like getting to know people very much and now I can't imagine my life with out the people I have met on my mission. My mission has helped me appreciate the small things in life as well as the big. I am so grateful for family that loves me and parents that are so willing to support me. I am so grateful for my talents! I love to paint and to draw. Being in a big city like Orlando has really helped me appreciate every culture and aspect of Gods creations. It is very inspiring and I hope that one day I can capture it in my art. Because of who I have become, the family I have, and all the talents God has given me, I have come to feel His love so abundantly in my life. I have truly come to know who I am as a daughter of Our Heavenly Father. That is my greatest quality God has given me, my divine nature. I know that you and I are children of the most loving Heavenly Father. I have come to know this by my experiences in life. I am grateful for Him and his Son, Jesus Christ, for all they have given me.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in this church. My family joined the church 5 or 6 generations back. They were some of the original pioneers. Some people would say that I am a Mormon just because my family has taught me that. Well yeah. That's a part of it. But anyone will tell you that you have to have your own testimony. And I do! I know this church is Jesus Christ's church. I have come to know this because I have searched the scriptures, fasted and prayed. Just like any honest seeker of truth should do. I know and believe with all my heart that its true. And some of the benefits of knowing its true and being a member of this church is that I have an honest desire to keep God's commandments and I have lived a very happy life. In Mosiah 2:41 (Book of Mormon) a great prophet and king asks us to "consider on the blessed and happy state of those who keep the commandments of God." Yes! I am so happy and blessed in all I do because I am a member of this church.

How I live my faith

My faith is reflected in my everyday life. Right now especially as I am serving a full time mission. I get the opportunity to dedicate 18 months of my life to serving Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I get to declare their word to their people. I am representing Jesus Christ, doing what he would do and saying what he would say. Its a very thought provoking experience. I grew up in the church so at some point I had to find out for myself if what I was going to tell people was true. I know it is! I have asked our Father in heaven and he has answered my prayers. This knowledge helps me to act more Christ like in my daily life. I want to keep his commandments and serve in his church. I want to help bring others the hope the gospel has brought me. When I was baptized I chose to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. My life has become my faith and my religion.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Kayla
The temple is not secret but very sacred. On earth, the temple is the closest thing to heaven. It truly is the house of the Lord. Everyone is invited to the temple, but just like we have to prepare ourselves to make it to heaven, God ask us to spiritually and physically prepare to go to his temple. In the temple eternal truths are taught to us. Like who we are as children of our Father in heaven, and what our potential is as his divine child. Its the best place to feel God's love for us and to feel that abiding and eternal peace. In the temple couples and families are bound together through Gods power for time and all eternity. There are many who have not received the gospel of Jesus Christ and were baptized, so in the temple we can stand in their place and be baptized for them. Its beautiful and sacred and inspirational! So come to the temple with us! I promise it will be the greatest thing you can experience. Show more Show less
