Hi I'm Hilary

I am a Mormon.

About Me

In April 2012, I graduated from LDS Business College with my Associate's degree with my General Studies and a certificate in Medical Office Assisting. Attending there was an immense blessing in my life. Currently, I am working towards my bachelor's degree in English at Weber State University. An interest of mine that I have always had is my love for writing. This has made me want to get a degree in English in hopes that I can find a career where I can benefit someone else's life in some way.

Why I am a Mormon

My testimony did not come easily to me growing up. However, there were certain things that I always knew. I knew that my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ were real and that they loved me. There were a couple of defining moments growing up of when I can say, “That is when I first knew.” But I kept forgetting about what I knew in my heart right after I had realized it. Looking back now, I can see that my Heavenly Father was trying to get something across to me in my mind because I wasn’t getting it. Deep down, I knew I had a testimony of Jesus Christ’s church, I knew what was right, but what was I doing about it? Halfway through my junior year in high school my grandma passed away. It caused me to take a step back and to really look at everything that I had been taught, everything that I knew, and ultimately, what I was going to do about it. Was I going to turn away from God, or draw closer to Him? I knew that I needed my Savior and my Heavenly Father in my life because I knew that without them, my life would be meaningless. Looking back, that was the turning point in my life and that was when I made the decision to do all that I could to follow my Savior, Jesus Christ. He loves us and because of His great love for us, we have the ability to return home to our Heavenly Father if we can do our part. Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father know who we are and they are very much aware of us right now in our lives. Knowing that I am loved, that there is a plan for me, that through Jesus Christ’s atonement, we can be healed, comforted, made clean, and that we can find peace through Him—that knowledge is the most precious gift that I could be given in this life. I am a member of this church because I have felt the truth of it.

How I live my faith

While I was attending my home ward, I was privileged to teach the sunbeams--3 and 4 year olds--in our primary for a year and a half. During this time I was able to learn much more about myself and my personal testimony than I had expected. I gained a deep love for these children and their pure, sincere spirits. Children know their Savior and Heavenly Father and they know that they love them. To see how strong these children were strengthened my own testimony along the way. Their incredible testimonies reminded me of the simple things every day that make all of the difference in our lives. My Father in Heaven knew that I needed each of those children in my life to teach me all that they did. In this life, I have come to realize that our purpose here is to come to know Christ and to bring others to that great knowledge as well. I am not perfect, but I try to be the best I can be, as a follower of my Savior, Jesus Christ.
