Hi I'm Calvin

I love to create magnificent melodies on the piano. I speak Ukrainian. I sing hymns from time to time. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Well, right now I'm a missionary. But in general I am a a pretty normal person. I'm a brother, son, student, friend, and crying shoulder. I am the middle child in a family of 5 children. I love my family. They're the best. Before my mission, I went to a university in Utah and studied a little bit there. I love to play piano, sing, that sort of thing. I like sports - snowboarding, wakeboarding, racquetball, tennis, rugby, soccer, etc. I also like to eat. Basically I like anything that's fun to do. I'm big into trying new things and meeting new people.

Why I am a Mormon

The more I study and teach, the more I am convinced that this Church is the true Church of Jesus Christ - that he himself organized it, and that he leads it today. I know that we are children of our Heavenly Father, and that we are eternal spiritual beings who lived with Him before this life. We have the potential to return to him and to become like Him. I'm thankful that I am able to repent and improve daily. I think I have always known that the Church was true. But of course it is a major lifestyle choice to be a member of the Church, so I had to find out for sure and decide for myself whether I wanted to continue to live the teachings of the gospel. And I do continue to live and help others to find out about them everyday.

How I live my faith

Right now I am serving as a full-time missionary. I have opportunities to teach the gospel and share my testimony every day, whether it be on the street, in someone's home, in the local branch building, or in a taxi. I also have a calling to work with the youth in our branch here a little bit and in general just help out around the branch to make sure things run smoothly. I try to show others by my example that I truly believe that this is just a better way to live life. I try to help others see that I am happy because of the things I know and also because of the things I strive to do in life and the things I avoid. For example, I don't drink or smoke, and my life is much better because of that.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is simply something that a person knows. We as members of the Church believe that we really should be personally convinced of the truthfulness of any spiritual truth, as well as the truthfulness of the Church. We're encouraged by prophets in the scriptures and also by modern-day leaders to find out for ourselves! When we do receive that testimony, Heavenly Father expects us to act on our testimony by doing what's right and keeping His commandments. Show more Show less
