Hi I'm Kristin

I grew up in a military family. Moved several times. Met my husband in Germany where we lived 7 years. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I just moved from living in Germany for almost 8 years, so now I can speak German. I fell in love with the culture and the people. It was wonderful but challenging. I am the mother of 4 young children. they keep me so busy, but also make me laugh. I am a stay-at-home mom, but would love to go back and get my college degree when my kids are older. Doing something creative is how I love to spend my free time, especially if it is crafty. I grew up primarily in Utah, so it is fun to raise my kids here now. My husband is German-American, so we love melding the two cultures and traditions. I prefer baking goodies to cooking, although it is fun to try out a new recipe. I am always on the look out. This past summer I discovered a love for working in my yard, including weeding.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I would hate to imagine life not being in the Church. The gospel means everything to me. I had a time when I had questions, and Heavenly Father helped me see what to do it resolve those questions. I think everyone needs a time to gain their own testimony; without it we are standing on the faith of others and not our own. Then we will fall. My testimony is always needing to be fed. Sometimes I am better at doing that than at other times. But the gospel brings me peace and an eternal perspective.

How I live my faith

I have had the opportunity to serve in many area of the church...with the adults, youth and children. I am currently working with the girls 12-18 years old. I have learned so much already about how to better live my faith from them. We are trying to do our best to teach our children the gospel and to help them build their faith. It is daunting to think that their spiritual welfare is in my hands! But I love that I get to become a better person by trying to teach them and lead by example. I try to do things often that build my faith and bring me closer to Heavenly Father. I read my scriptures, say prayers, attend my church meetings. About 2 years ago I found The Mormon Channel. This has been so helpful to me. When I am stressed and need spiritual uplift I listen and feel uplifted. I love that I can listen to it while I am doing my daily tasks and bring a special spirit to my day.

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Heavenly Father will bless us for being righteous. But that doesn't mean bad and hard things won't happen in our lives. We need to prepare ourselves for when those things happen. This way Heavenly Father can bless us for our obedience and wisdom. Often, we are His tools to help others also, because we are ourselves prepared. Show more Show less
