Hi I'm Doris Gail Madsen Anderson

I grew up in Utah. I'm a Mormon. I have 4 children & 17 grandchildren. I lived in Ca. & served a mission in Hon. Hi.

About Me

I garden & sew, knit & crochet, play the piano, love to sing & dance. I taught speech & hearing & 2nd grade. I have raised 4 children & have 17 grandchildren. My husband & I serve in the temple & do family history work.

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel is very dear to us & to our family. We know this is Christ's church & are so grateful for all the precious truths we enjoy. We love to share the gospel with others. We're very grateful for our good parents who raised us in the church. We know it was restored by Joseph Smith & we're very grateful to him & to all our prophets. We know that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of the Lord. We believe in God the Eternal Father & in his Son Jesus Christ & in the Holy Ghost. I received the gift of the Holy Ghost when I was baptized at 8 years of age. He has always been my best friend .

How I live my faith

I used to help in PTA & we were Presidents of our dance club for several years, still do some line dancing. I participate in the Republican Women's group. We have served in many positions in our church, as teachers, secretaries, counselors, chorister & pianist, presidents. My husband was a teacher in the Church Education System for 16 years, & was director of the Institute of Religion in Long Beach. We are serving a emergency preparedness specialists at the present time. We are also visiting teachers & hometeachers. We helped organize an emergency preparedness fair last month. Many participated & it was very education & fun. I have taught children & youth most of my life, led the singing in meetings & played the piano. I love to serve others. I have also served as a ward & stake missionary. I also served in the missionary training center in various capacities.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

The Book of Mormon is another testimony of Christ & is an addition to the Bible. The Doctrine & Covenants & Pearl of Great Price also add to our knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon with the help of the Lord. I know these things are true. I know God lives & Jesus is his Son. I know they love us & we love them. Show more Show less
